Fuel Gauge and Range Malfunction

i have an ip g37 auto. and it started a week ago i took on an s550 that car has some power but i didnt redline my car im not beating it up too much i did rock him on the twisties no winner just spirited driving anyways after i was done i came to a stop and my car started to beep warning me i had 4 miles left on range which was bs because i knew i had 50 something miles till E. and my gauge dropped below the E
Gradually as i kept driving the range would increase and so would the gauge. I was driving today filled her up almost full and im driving it says 177 miles to E and a minute later 164 and it would go up to 166 and down to 165. and the gauge seems to be dropping quick i filled up today at around 12pm and at 5 o clock ish it was at the half way mark i wasnt driving that much. not sure whats going on anyone know?

I’m thinking it has to-do with the way the computer tries to incorporate driving habit and spirited driving doesn’t do so well when it comes to MPG calculations. I would try to drive it lightly and try to see if the numbers start to increase again.

this is correct. the car still believes you wish to drive fast. just drive casually for 10 miles or so and it should start to ramp back up.

happened in mine as well but don't think its a problem. Its just the cars way of warning you that at that rate you will be out soon. They would rather you get gas soon vs run out, i think.

I think your range is calculated based on your MPH and MPG average. If your MPG is really low, this will certainly throw the calculations off. Reset them and it should go back up in a few miles...
