This is just a guess, but a detail would be first. You don't want to apply a film on a dirty surface.

I had my clear bra installed within the first week to avoid any build up of scratches or swirl marks. I believe they just did a good cleaning before adhering the material and went right over the paint. I don't think any wax under there would be good for the material. I have applied Klasse sealer over the car including the clear bra and there is no reaction from the 3m material to the sealer, as it still looks great and is difficult to see on my Black Obsidian.

CHI-TOWN did you get the full hood and full front fenders done with the clear bra? I am very picky and I know that I will hate the line even if nobody notices but me. I talked to the premier guy here in Houston and he said probably about $1k for the entire front end, headlights, full fenders, full hood, and side mirrors. Am I being too **** about it? Can you post come hi-res pics of what the line on the hod/fenders looks like on your OB?

my friend just has his G35 done. The installer asked if he had waxed the car recently. He said if so he had stuff that would strip the wax off as you dont want the wax under the bra as it will take away from the adheasion.

Black Betty-
I have the full bumper, hood up about 18", fenders back 20", and mirrors. No headlights (They are so raked that I can't believe any rock would damage them). My job was about $800, but the dealer threw it in. My car pics are in several of my previous posts and in the Black Obsidian gallery. The clear bra is very difficult to see and we can't post "high res" pics per se. I would be glad to take some better pics via email to you if you PM me.

This is correct, the proper order would be to:

Prep the paint wash & dry, clay and polish to remove surface contamination and swirl marks. Then install the clear bra. Then follow up with your full detail, starting with a wash, but skipping the clay and polish this time around if you did it earlier and going right to your protective steps.

I was looking into the clear bra for '07 G35, great discounts going on now for those of us that were finding G37 bit too expensive.
What dealer "threw it in" and do you know who installed the clear bra, and are you in Chicago area? Chi Town.

^^ My car is from Fields in Glencoe. I opted out of the iPhone promo they announced and my sales associate offered up the Clear Bra and I accepted! That was the best decision I made. They installed in one day and may have sub'd it out to someone, but I don't know that for sure. The shop in Glencoe does a lot of "performance" enhancements for their customers and they may have done it right there. FYI- all of their performance and tuning options are fully guaranteed which is cool.

I have done the clay bar for my 350Z after it was a year and half old. Got the clay bar package made by Mothers which is a good system I think. But is it ok to wax and do the clay bar on a brand new car. I never really get a definitive answer on that, some say its ok some say to wait a little bit. Can someone tell me for sure. THanks
