thats a lot of new tech .... even furthering my belief in not wanting to be a guinea pig for it. i'll possibly pick one up a few years down the road after they work the bugs out ...
The new engines and tech sound pretty awesome! Glad that it's going on the sedan first in order to catch any major issues before they transfer aspects of it to my future Q60,lol!
Yes this is good info. We can look at the GTR and VR platform to see how they hold up. As far as transmissions go, I would expect a beefup version but believe the aftermarket support will be better when turners see that it's a VR engine. This is a good start.
the three radiator caps through me off.... like are the turbos water cooled?
edit: so i was right, the turbos are water cooled, an air-to-water inter-cooler system, and additional cooling for when under load. sounds complex.
Yes it does and it seems that may be part of the reason the wait for the coupe has been so long, was to get this new engine right! They should be able to work out any issues that they find in the sedan before the new Q60 rolls into dealerships.
Does anyone else feel like they need a little more plastic to cover the areas around the engine? This is going to be a great motor I forsee. VR series FTW!!!
LOL! I know the feeling, being saving for about a year so that I can have a good down payment! Was pretty sure it would be the new Q60, but since the pictures and the engine have leaked, it is definitely what I want to upgrade to.
So with a water cooled system I take it you need to fill a reservoir on occasion. How much water does a system like this typically consume? One needs to keep a gallon in the trunk just in case?
You cant see them from the top. They are literally where the headers would be.
Where are the headers going to be and do you think this thing will spool to a point where we could hear it better being located closer to the firewall?
