Rattling Noise When Pushing Clutch

Sometimes when I'm driving slow, like when looking for a parking spot, I'll be rolling in 1st or 2nd gear at a low RPM and when I have to stop, I'll push down on the clutch to put it in neutral. When the clutch engages, I hear this rattling noise, like as if something is hitting against something in my engine bay. I usually notice this in 1st or 2nd, but I think it happens in 3rd once in a while too. I don't hear it during normal driving, but only when going slow. The noise echoes into my car so even my gf notices this, and she's not a very observant person when it comes to cars haha.

I did see another thread in the SoCal forum, but the problem wasn't well describe there so I'm not sure if this is related.

Anyone care to chime in?

I have the same sound... Everyone says its normal though... It sounds like caca IMO... I kinda found a way to eliminate the sound... What you do is leave the accelerator pedal down just far enough as you were to maintain your "rolling" speed and then push in the clutch... The revs shouldn't increase at all if done correctly and should stay at the same RPM as you were when you were rolling... Doing this will prevent it from "clankin" annoyingly... Still won't know what the hell is making the sound though...

I have the same problem and it really bugs me. I haven't had the time to take it to the dealer, what do they have to say? It's normal?

I would say, just because a lot of the cars are doing it, doesn't make it acceptable.

Between that, the muffler rattle, and the drone in neutral, it's kind of embarrasing for what should be a well built car.

does it rattle when your car is stopped and the clutch is pushed in? If so, it is probably your throwout bearing, and if so the bearing will have to be replaced.

Is this the same sound as when I turn off my car? My friends ask me if I just stalled whenever I turn my car off.

I have the same problem... assumed that it was an exhaust rattle due to rapid de-torquing of the engine. I really only notice it in in traffic when you lurch forward and then quickly have to put the clutch in to stop.

I think it actually has something to do with the dual mass flywheel that the G has. Anyone with a light weight replacement single mass setup care to comment?
My truck has a dual mass flywheel and when you de-clutch while there is any torsional load on the clutch it makes an nasty clatter sound.

I think almost everyone has that sound. Dealership called it a "characteristic" of the car, in other words, they don't see it as a problem.

I've learned to eliminate it by pushing the clutch in slowly/smoothly instead of a quick clutch in.

I had a dual mass flywheel on my Acura CL and did not have this issue...

I have two noises:

1. Clutch pedal "clicking" noise towards last 20% of pressing;
2. 1-3rd gear engine "clanking" noise when clutch is pressed at high RPM

Press the clutch in before turning the engine off, this will eliminate the "stalling" sound when turning engine off.
