OEM Dunlop SP Sport MAXX A1 tires, are they pretty bad?
I have a 2014 AWD Q60 w/30k miles and near new OEM Dunlop SP Sport MAXX A1 tires on it. 225/50/R18 I believe, stock square setup.
Are the OEM Dunlops known to be "bad" tires? Problems I am having:
-fairly easy to slide in cornering (coasting, not power-on) all 4 tires wash out about the same time. Car isn't "out-of-control" per se, but I feel like I am only giving it 6/10 of what it should be able to do.
-even though my car is AWD, sometimes I can get front and rear spin with a WOT takeoff. On a rainy day, I can have my SLIP light blinking for a long time if I want. I don't feel my car is so "powerful" that it should do this.
-Pretty easy to invoke ABS intervention, again, seems easier than what I anticipate
-TRAMLINING: I have read, amongst many different car models/brands that these tires tramline. My Q60 is fairly bad about this, I had the alignment done recently and everything is well within spec.
Maybe it's not just the fault of the Dunlops, they are only 225 wide and the car weighs nearly 3900 pounds. A Civic Si weighs approx 900 pounds less and runs on 235 wide tires.
Really considering DWS06 or AS3+ at this time in a 245/45R18 size.
So, do/did you guys have the same experience with your cars when/if they are on OEM Dunlops??
