Blnewt- yep still liking that idea the most as its most economical , so will check out tires AND rims and see what comes out.

Rochester- that's the problem, if you had read post, I want, primarily, more tire life...also, just because the car came that way , it's no reason to accept that as final state of car...else , why the hell is everyone modding/changing factory settings...i.e. - lower than stock, bigger rims than oem, different exhaust than oem, color of lights....blah, blah, blah and so forth....guess your car is completely stock , cuz you just sucked it up....great input man....

I did read your post, which is why my advice is to not expect long tread life out of tires on your choice in cars. And I have sucked it up, spending good money on great tires, tread life be damned because the rewards outweigh the penny pinching. You're not making sense.

The old analogy about not being able to have your cake and eat it too... just eat it, man. It's good cake.

^^^ whatever man, the point was being economical on my tire expense, it doesn't equate to penny pinching... We all have areas where the expense rarely outweighs our wants, minimal mileage out of tires, just because, isn't one of them for me.
As for making sense, quite clear, more life out my tires...clear enough? Just wanted ideas on how to achieve this, otherwise if just dealing with it was the solution, then wouldn't have bothered posting... Dude, you missed your nap time today or what?

You really want to call me out for not understanding you? We could go back to your original premise, rotating staggered rims. That was fun, LOL.

But seriously... make the investment. Enjoy your car to the fullest. That's always good advice.

So the staggered wheels are actually smaller in the front and larger in the rear...I thought just the tires were different (or maybe I just forgot). Is this common for all S-trim wheels (AWD not included?)

Do most buy a second set of rear wheels if they want to go square without a stretch?

Go read BB's sticky in the Wheel & Tire forum: https://www.myg37.com/forums/wheels-...reference.html

His original post has everything you need to know, although the specs read a little muddy about the xS Sedan, which was 18x7.5" square with factory all-seasons. Either way, it's great info.

The Coupe's stagger seems an odd decision, only being a 1/2" difference. Hey, you want to see something really crazy? Go research wheel dimensions on the DeLorean.

I wish the sedans came like this as I'd like to run a 245 front/255 rear combo.

^^^im probably going to buy either the 8.5 and have that all around, but even 1/2 difference would have minimized my problem as it would seem that this stagger is easier to address.
G37xtreme-seems like most just do that or run staggered ....

If you're patient, I bet you could find another member willing to swap two wheels so that you both go square. I've heard of that happening before.

Heck, if this were two months ago, it could have been me. I'd rather have 7.5" square for my winter wheels. Unfortunately, I just dropped $400 on new rear X-Ice snow tires, so I'm committed.

Damn... now I wish I'd thought of this earlier.

I am running staggered 20" Niche Targa wheels, 8.5 fronts 10 rears. I have my wheels wrapped with Toyo Proxes tires. I can assure you all that the 15-20K mileage estimate stated above is a little on the low end, depending upon driver & conditions of course. One way I have found to deal with the replacement issue is purchasing the tire protection policy, the dude at the tire shop told me even if I were to roast my tires doing burnouts all I have to do to get replacement is stick a nail through the ones that need replaced. A 2 for 1 at least. Staggered is a calculated risk some of us are willing to take for the look and slight cornering enhancement. Think before you buy and quality makes a huge difference.

SODOPE!
