When driving below 15 mph or so, even on a smooth road, I have been noticing a slight side-to-side "wobble" in the rear end. It feels almost as if a wheel was loose at the lugs.

At speed, the wobble goes away.

It is probably alignment, but would anyone suggest what else I can check?

It's the alignment most likely. i had that exact same problem until i got another alignment done.

 

check your bushings and tie rods.

 

^^^ All good ideas. It could also be a bent rim.

 

wobble gone. New tires have been fit ( Hankook Ventus S1 noble2) and aligned.
