curb rash in Baltimore

I got the IPL hypersilver wheels with some curb rash and peeling paint on the outer rim on 3 wheels. Would you recommend I just get it touched up by the mobile wheel guy or take it to a shop to get the whole wheel repainted? I heard hypersilver is real tough to reproduce so the dealership was telling me to get it touched up. But I would like to have the whole wheel repainted just because my wheels have lost some of their shine, but not if it's not going to match. The mobile guy charges about $60 a wheel and a shop I called said they would repaint the whole wheel for $109. But when I asked would it match the good wheel they said they would do their best. Not very reassuring. And please let me know where to get the work done in the Baltimore area. Thanks

it depends on budget and how you want it to look. If you get the wheel repaired and touched up, the shop SHOULD fade the paint to blend in.

Me personally, if i had the coin, would get them all repainted, powdercoated, what have you to get more shine to them. slightly update the color some maybe.

Update the color to what? And what technically is powder-coating? I see that a lot on here. I don't mind paying the $109 but any more than that I feel I might as well buy a new better looking wheel.

Powder coating is much stronger than just regular paint. it gets baked on the wheel.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_coating

When i say update the color, i mean give it a brighter to darker look that the stock wheel. Instead of silver, get like a gun metal color or something. If you are gonna pay for new paint or something like that.

sounds expensive. i have never been the biggest fan of the hypersilver color and i was thinking about maybe a glossy gunmetal color. Don't know if it would look good with the Malbec black though.

It would look good. Gunmetal and Black work well together.

Powdercoating can get expensive. can be fairly affordable also. I got my wheels powdercoated for about $600. which isnt bad considering color and size. I have gotten wheels coated on other cars for about $400 to 500..

If you wanted to go with a gunmetal powder coat, the company should clear coat it giving you a glossy look to it.

Wheel refinishing is priced in two different ways :
1.) "Spot" repairs and "blends" of damaged areas only is $99 per wheel but doesn't include the lifetime warranty.
2.) Full factory wheel refinishing is priced at $159 per wheel and comes with our world-wide AWRS Lifetime warranty.
3.) Please inquire about our multiple wheel discounts.

Custom wheel colors and services are additional." They running a 20% off special so it would be at least $128, but don't know if they would charge extra if i wanted to switch colors. Did you have personal experience with them?

Get them powder coated. What you want is the color black chrome with gloss. Don't do refinish wheel, for that price you could of just got them powder coated instead. Here's how mines came out.

No personal experience, but they sponsor Hunt Valley Horsepower's Cars and Coffee every Saturday at the mall. Maybe mention that for an additional discount?
