Wheel barrel scratch

Hey guys not sure if this is the correct section to post my question. One of my powder coated wheels has an inch long scratch on the outer barrel. Whether this was there before or the painter mishandled it.. Unfortunately the paint fully cured over the scratch. My question is looking at the pic, will this pointy scratch pose a problem in the future when I get the tires installed. Like "pop" the tire from the inside. The scratch is pointy and sharp to the touch. Should I bring it back to the powder coat shop, try to sand it myself.. or leave it alone if it won't be a problem when the wheel is wrapped. Any tire/wheel guru can chime in would be greatly appreciated!

Well, the powdercoaters are focusing on the outside of the wheel, I could see how that could be missed. It won't cause any harm, but if it comes loose it may cause an annoying jingle in the wheel (doubt it could be heard) so I'd get it chipped off and then a light sand an prime over that area to protect it. If the shop is close by I'd take it over there and have them clean it up for you.

It looks like something gouged the wheel prior to it being cured.

I think I will leave it alone since it won't harm anything. Thanks guys. I don't think it will chip, that clearcoat is tough! And yes It's a PITA when you see small imperfections couple days later. Good thing it wasn't on the spoke! Haha

Yeah, it takes a lot to chip a powdercoat, look forward to seeing those installed
