255/40/19 - 285/35/19 on oem 19" S Wheels

Can someone please tell me if this will fit on the 19" s rims? Need tires asap and would love to try this if it would fit no problem with stock alignment specs and stock ride height.

Will they fit? Yes
Is it recommended? No
I wouldn't run a 255/40 up front, needs to be 255/35 but some may advise against the 285 rear just because the "recommended" widest tire for a 9in width is 275. However, stang and bimmer boys run 285s on stock brembo wheels (19x9) without issue.

245/40-19 F and 275/35-19 R would be way better and your speedo would be nearly perfect.

why wouldn't you?

I'm looking at the spec page for conti extreme DWS tires.

Interesting thing is that their 255/285 combo would actually work the best WHEN COMPARING TO OVERAL DIAMETER...

CONTINENTAL EXTREME DWS TIRE SPECS:

225/45/19 - 27.4" dia
245/40/19 - 26.7" dia

245/40/19 - 26.7" dia
275/35/19 - 26.6" dia

255/40/19 - 27" dia
285/35/19 - 26.9" dia

to me, the 255/285 combo (at least for the conti's) are closer to the stock rolling diameters.

The DWS sidewall isn't that hard (as it's an all season tire) so you'd want to run the proper size tires to avoid safety issues.
Also, 26.6 is closer to 26.7 than 26.9...or maybe I never took math.

your math is impeccable

consider the front and rear with overall comparison to stock...

27" for the front 255's is closer to the stock 225 being 27.4"

yes you are correct about the rear 275 being closer to the stock 245 at 26.6 to 26.7 for the rears.

However, 255/285 combo gives you +.2" difference for rear and -.4" difference for the front.

That to me is better than -.1 for the rear and a -.7" difference for the rear.

Actually, you made me ponder something.
If you base the numbers off the stock tires, RE050s, both front and rear stock sizes are the same at 26.9 diameter...in the case putting the conti 255/285 closer to the those numbers. Interesting theory, I'm guessing the style of tire makes that difference being summer stocks vs A/S.

yesss exactly my theory... just wondering why no1 else has really gone this route. Even if you go Hankook v12's the 255/285 would be the way to go.

In generally among many different brands the 255/285 combo is closer to the oem specs.

Because the 245/275 fits the wheels much better...at least the rear. 255 on an 8.5 isn't bad, Audi does this with stock wheels but the main issue is the rear and keeping the seal without having the sidewall roll and leak.

Dang, a 255/40 is going to have almost exactly a 4" side wall, that seems huge to me but I guess I'd have to see it.

^ THIS! I run this setup in winder configuration.
Anything wider will will bulge off the wheel a bit and I am thinking you might not like the look.
