I jumped the gun and changed my tires too soon. I can't believe the snow that has fallen this April. With the all season tires, driving in this is no fun. Can't stop, can't turn and can't go.
You folks in the southern areas don't know how lucky you are!
For those that don't think winter tires are worth it, I can tall you from first hand experience, winter tires have about 80% MORE grip in the snow. Plus you save your summer rims from the corrosive salt.
I still have snow tires on both cars. We almost swapped them out a couple weeks ago, but heard about this cold snap and decided to wait. Good thing, too.
Check out http://forecast.io It's a great resource. I've found it to be more accurate than Weather.com.
Ahhhhhh man that sucksss! I live in NJ and even though is disgustingly cold out here no snow thankfully.... where are you located that you got snow in April?!
I know how lucky i have it in SC. Summer tires all year round is nice. It's not so much the snow and swapping summer tires for winters and having to reverse it if it snows again that i would mind living in snowy areas, you gotta do whatcha gotta do. But at 175lbs and spending all my life in the Southern part of the US, i'm just not built for long, cold, snowy winters. I'd freeze my freaking butt off. Though i would like some snow occasionally.
Every once in a blue moon when we do get that inch of snow, everything goes to hell. You can't find a loaf of bread or gallon of milk within a 300 mile radius and Southerners flat out cannot drive, in the rain, much less snow. It's like they say around here..... "For instant idiot, just add water/snow"....

I'm not sure how "immigration" is in Columbia, but in Indian Land, SC (Charlotte , NC), about half the drivers are Northern Implants. I suppose the bad drivers from the North decided to move to the south because they couldn't hack it up there.
I know what you mean. In WI I have had a set of summer tires waiting to go on for over a week now, but it keeps snowing. I am supposed to do a track day on Sunday, but there is a 50% chance of snow in the forecast. This could get really interesting...
We had a few days with at times heavy snow fall but none was sticking. Snow promised for friday, but doubt any will stick. If it does, it'll melt in a day or less.
Don't think it's wise to do a trackday when it's in the 30's.
A few years ago I did a performance driving school at Mosport. To prepare, I put on my sticky summer tires. However, during the event we received 1" of wet snow. As the day warmed up, it changes to slush, rain, then the sun came out.
IT WAS THE BEST DRIVING SCHOOL EVER!!! My goal was to improve my driving skills and I had all possible types of weather on the same track and the same day. If you can keep control of your car when the grip is low, you can also do it when the grip is high.
I was given a set of winter tires when I bought my G. I used them for the first time and wow, I had no idea they made the much of a difference. I have my winters on my stock rims (which have seen better days) and a summer set on aftermarket rims so I just swap the wheels whenever there's significant snow on the way. If it's in your budget, I'd suggest the getting an extra set of rims and just swapping them. In the long run, it makes sense, and issues like this would be nonexistent
I've been itching to put my summers on and for it to actually be warm enough to do work on the car ...as far as i can tell it wont be safe for summers in the GTA for about a week more at least
