STI-R spacers

Just got my sti-r lenses. I have been searching the interwebs on how many spacers to use. I got the spacer kit, but i didn't get any metal ones.

So for those of you who have installed these, how many spacers did you use.

I went with two. Leaving the factory one as well. Cutoff looks better. I wish I had played around and tested different amounts tho.

Light output and spread is night and day different with the clear lenses. Definitely worth it.

I went w/a thicker cardboard piece as I wasn't real sure how well that wire spacer ring was secured against the lens cover/clamp. It's about 3x as thick as the oem piece but still about 1/2 as thick as the metal ring spacer. In hindsight I wish I would have gone w/ the metal ring, my cutoff is real crisp but not quite as razor sharp as if I would have gone out just a bit more, and my blue edge flicker is there but again, not as bold as it could have been.
But I'm still 100% happy w/ that mod, about the best $50 you can spend, especially if you're going to all the effort to pull the lights apart anyway.

And they look SOOO much better even when the lights aren't on over those fresnal junkers.

Not to jack OP's thread, But I received my STI-R lens last week, but they didn't come with the stock spacer that everyone has talked about in other post. I will have to make my own, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also is there any local auto parts stores that sell headlight lens sealant?

Thank you

The paper spacers cost extra and aren't included with the lens.

You can make your own using cereal boxes.

Go with butyl tape, theretrofit source has it
Morimoto RetroRubber Butyl Glue - Headlight Re-Sealant - Retrofitting Materials From The Retrofit Source
You might be able to find it at auto parts stores too, for windshield and RV sealing.

I just used Clear RTV silicone to seal my headlights. Honestly, I could have probably gotten away without it as there was enough OEM sealant left over.

I'd probably go w/ 3x spacing. The metal ring used to come w/ the STiR lens pkg, but I guess they went to paper recently, and that is now "extra".

Yup, now they don't come with any spacers, In there "how to" they say it comes with a metal one, but nope! I ended up making mine using the OEM one as an outline. made them out of a beer box. I used two home made spacers plus the OEM.
