Flat Tire - Damaged TPS Valve
So came out to the car this morning to find my driver side rear tire flat. Brand new tires. Been on about 2 weeks.
So im like wtf right? I figure i must have ran over a nail or something last night.
So i get the tire off and inspect it. Not a damn thing wrong with it. But looking at the TPS valve on the inside of the wheel, its damaged. Looks like it rubbed up against something...
Now im wondering what that is though.
Recently had my car dropped on kw v3 coilovers and installed spc front and rear camber control arms. So im guessing the valve rubbed up against something just not sure what..
Dont have a good feeling right now though going forward... Maybe i hit a huge pot hole or something? Even then though.. this shouldn't happen im thinking.
Anyone have any suggestions or know if this is common place with lowered rides and after market wheels?
In the mean time the shop said they could somehow band the tps valve to the wheel so that should help. Going to have it done on all four wheels as well.

lol guys the pic shows the tps valve. The regular air valve is on the front of the wheel. The one you are referring To. So there are two valves. The tps valve shown in the pic is what monitors the air pressure.

Wow.. That is some strange design. Why not put the tpms in the hole facing outward? Frankly any additional holes in a wheel is just another place for a leak to occur as you've discovered.
Was the inner valve stem hitting something? Perhaps this occurs when the suspension is loaded.
Sorry man, I just can't wrap my head around drilling a 2nd hole in a wheel for a tpms sensor when the the outside hole should be properly angled to accommodate as such. And people pay money for this

Id love to say i know why work designed the wheel that way. I am unsure though. I figure its not that uncommon though with custom wheels. im curious myself if anyone with knowledge on the matter can weigh in though.
Good news. Tire is fine and the TPS valve needs to be replaced. The other rear was checked and showed signs of the same issue but is still in good condition. They are going to "band" each of the rears. The fronts are ok and were checked.
I am still very curious as to what im rubbing up against in the rears though. When i have my G out to my mechanic in the next couple weeks we will definitely see if we can figure it out when its in the air.

Mezzo, what does 'band' mean?
As I mentioned earlier, since the stem is not entirely broken off, it would appear it's touching something under certain conditions. You should be able to see the contact point by looking closely at what the wheel comes near especially during suspension compression.
I'd love to hear the explanation from the wheel mfg as to why the tpms couldn't go in the normal location.

The Gnosis line of work wheels, which im not sure on the other series, the TPS is optional. Im guessing because its optional its added that way?
Might just call up work and get a clearer explanation as to why they go this route.
