Power coating wheels

Two simple questions:

1. Is there any benefits to power coating the wheels? Say I got them glossy black - how easy is it to remove them and go back to stock?

2. Can someone recommend me a place in NYC to get them done? I'm trying to get a quote from Elitemotorsports in Long Island.

From my experience with gloss black powder coated wheels, they get super dirt with brake dust, dirt, crap from parking outside very fast. Comparing them to my "do it yourself" duplicolor painted wheels the DIY wheels stayed cleaner longer and repelled brake dust way better. I wouldn't powder coat my wheels again to be honest. I don't think you can go back to stock color after powder coating, Bc the shop has to sand/bead blast the OEM paint off.

If I were you I'd make a project out of painting your own wheels, sand them down, prime them, add 2-3 coats of gloss black wheel paint, and seal it up with a wheel clear coat that helps repel brake dust.

Here's pics of the gloss black powder coated wheels. Followed by the DIY matte graphite duplicolor wheels I did one weekend.

The powder coated wheels where done at 212 motor inc in BK. check out "Long Island rim repair" they quoted me at 125$ to powder quote each wheel and mount and balance tires.

I think you forgot to upload the pics

Now I am rethinking this since I can't go back to stock if I power coat them. It's already a pain having a black coupe and getting it dirty due to pollen.

Will definitely check out 212 Motor. Elitemotorsport quoted around $800 all 4 wheels.

EDIT: Work seems to block pics .

Where do you fine a wheel clear coat that repels brake dust? Are you talking about a paint layer, or an 'Armorall Wheel Protectant' -style spray?

I spray painted my wheels using duplicolors Hyper silver, and after sanding, 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of paint, 2 coats of clear, and finishing it with wet sanding and polishing, it still looked like ****. I am going to get my rims powder coated a hyper silver to chrome color.
