Which Tires would you recommend for my g37x coupe 2010


1)Michelin Primacy MXM4 95W BSW 225/50R18 ( ALL SEASON)
2)Michelin Pilot SPORT 95V BSW 225/50R18 ( SUMMER)
3)Michelin 225/50R18 95T DEFENDER ( ALL SEASON)
4)Michelin pilot Sport A/S 3 ( ALL SEASON)

I was told summer tires arnt recommended because they don't last as long and are not that practical. I live in Toronto.


Let me know your thoughts..

 

You don't want to run summer tires year round in a climate that has a cold winter. Summer tires and winter tires have specific rubber compounds suited to the temperature they are normally driven in. If you want summers than get a summer tire and swap out to winters when the weather changes, if not go with all season. I can't comment on those specific tire but I have always heard Michelin aren't great in the rain. We have Bridgestone Potenza's on our G and they have been great.

 

Yea, im leaning towards either the PILOT sport or defender.. both all season.. wanted some more insight

Got me home in a raging NJ snowstorm but not up the incline of my driveway in 8" of unplowed snow.

I put a set of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3’s on before winter, and they got me through the snow with no problems. The AWD definitely helped also.

I have not yet experienced a deluged rainstorm with them yet, but no issues with heavy downpours.

The OEM Yoko’s were good in snow but dicey in heavy rain.

 

The Pilot sport A/S 3 come with 70,000 Warranty while the defender come with 150,000.. So doesn't that mean the A/S worn off twice as fast?

 

One thing it doesn't mean is that they will last that many miles, or even clicks.
I don't buy tires that have outrageous mileage claims.What it's saying in big print is...Buy our tire, It has a very,very hard rubber compound, and will last a really long time. Cornering and stopping? Well not so much, you need a soft rubber compound for that.......
You should include the Continental Extreme Contact DWS in your search.

 

I have winter tires on the 18" stock X coupe wheels. For my 19" summer's I just put on Bridgestone RE760 Sports. I previously had Hankook Ventus V12s, and was amazed at how long they lasted (3 summers including 4 days at Watkins Glen and several autocrosses), but decided to try something different.

There are certainly better handling tires, but I was also factoring cost and longevity into the equation. I read a lot of reviews online, and they seemed like one of the better price/performance compromises.

 

For what it's worth I just purchased the Goodyear Eagle® F1 Asymmetric All-Season. My choices were continential dws, Michelin pilot a/s, and the goodyears. Look at the reviews and tests on tirerack, that's what influenced my decision. If you can wait a few weeks I heard they are also coming out with dws06 which is a new version of the dws. The Michelin's just didn't seem to have great winter performance at all according to reviews.

 

I don't really care about winter.. I have winter tires for that. Just care more for handing, braking in wet and dry conditions, and of course performance.

 

Based on the reviews.. it seems the Pilot Sports A/S are the better choice but do not last that long at all. hmm deal breaker perhaps..

 

If you have dedicated winter tires there is no reason in the world you should be considering all season, get the Michelin pilot super sports summer tires and be done with it. All season versions will give you worst performance and not neccesarily a better ride either.

I was told by many NOT to get all season simply because it gets worn much faster and due to large amount of rain at times.

 

The ONLY sacrifices you'll make w/ summer tires are treadwear & performance below 40 degrees, otherwise Summer tires FTW all day long.
