Deciding on rims for my G37S

Newbie here and seeking your feedback on some rims I am considering, but not quite sure about the proper set up, measurements. Hopefully some of you already have these rims and can give me the cut and dry reply?

So I have an 2008 G37S and want to take the stock 19" rims off and as I love the Vossen CVT, I cant afford them. Anyhow, looking to put on 20" Vossen CV7 or Rohana RC7?

First question is:
What is the difference between getting Vossen or Rohana? I see the Vossen CV7 and the Rohana RC7 and they look identical. Like the CVT, the CV7 are too much for me now, but the Rohana rims are $700 cheaper in more in my price range. So what is the difference? Name, durability, or nothing different at all?

Second question:
What measurement should I be getting to ensure it clears the "Sport" calipers? I see 8.5, 9, and 10.5 and not sure what these are, but get a feeling this is to clear the caliper.

Last question:
Do I have to lower my vehicle or can I get away with just taking off the old 19"s and throwing on the new 20's? if I can do this will there be too great of a gap and I should get a higher tire?

Thanks

I would say that Vossens and Rohanas are pretty comparable in terms of quality and finish.
The Vossens arent going to be much different in quality, unless you are looking at the flow formed VFS line.

The CVT and RC8s are both low pressure cast, so weight and strength should be similar.
The main difference will be the brand name and style, I'd say go for whatever you like best (or whatever you can afford). You wont be missing out on much by going Rohana over Vossen.

For your G37S, you will want to run the staggered setup to clear the S brakes.
You will want to run the 20x9 +35 20x10 +45 for the best fitment on your G

You wont need to lower the car, but it would definitely look better with the drop!

Heres some photos of the RC7s in Machined Silver for a Q50 we shipped out recently.

Well as I have not figured out how to "thank" a post, I will type it out instead.

blnewt - Thank you, I would like to hear your feedback as well though.

GetYourWheels- Great information, just to ask, did you mean: 20x9 +35, 20x10 +45? Also I went on your website and did not see any RC7s listed, but damn they look sharp. I would be interested in getting pricing on them as I am shopping around for rims and tires.

Sorry, yes I meant 20x9 +35 20x10 +45.
The RC7s aren't on the website yet since they were just released, but we are working on getting them up.

There's a "thanks" button on the lower right of the posts that aren't your own, just a single click on that and you'll be thanking like a pro

GetYourWheels has solid info, another thing to keep in mind is he can also custom powdercoat your wheels if you want a unique shade. Check this thread for some great ideas

As far as offsets, that's what I'd recommend as well but also depends how wide you want your tires to be. I really like extra wide back tires as it gives an even more aggressive stance. I run 8.5x20 +40 front running 245/35/20
and 10x20 +45 running 295/30/20, this fits just inside the rear fender and I'm dropped to zero fender gap on coilovers w/ camber well under spec at -0.6degrees.

If you don't plan to drop, the 19s will look better, the 20s w/ the narrower sidewall tires exaggerate the fender gap more than 19s. 20" tires cost less than 19s typically so that's worth considering but will also firm the ride even more as you'll feel more road irregularities, bumps, etc.

Here's another wheel option that is similar to those you liked and is priced well~

I put Niche Veronas on my coupe without a drop. I like it but always hated the wheel gap so I plan to drop the front 3/4" and rear 1/4". Look for my thread with pics by searching my name or Niche wheels.

The finish on those Rohana's is really fresh. If you're concerned with re-sale value down the road, Vossen's seem to retain their value pretty well on the used market.

Niche Verona's or Avant Garde wheels seem really solid as well, and can usually be found for less $ than the Vossen's.

Try emailing some vendors to see if they can hook you up on a sweet deal.
I went through Preferred Customs | Your source for Concave Wheels & Custom Wheels and they ended up getting me a better deal on 20" Vossen's than I could find on any other brand of concave wheels.

Also, I just installed 9" front and 10.5" rear wheels that clear the sport brake calipers BLNEWT can probably help more though as he's more experienced.

No need to drop unless you want to... most people do after they see how their wheels look on the car. Just got my 20" Vossen's so now I'm saving up for coil-overs to make the drop.

if you really like the CVT look, these Niche wheels give you a similar look at about half the price.
