Winter Tires and Rims

Hey,

I'm just wondering what Winter tires and winter tires size were popular for the g37s coupe. I been looking around it seems like 225/50R18 allround is popular for this car. I just recently got a g37s coupe, since winter is around the corner thought i should start doing my research now. My next question is since I have the sports model (big brakes) what cheap rims can i get since it just for the winter.

TireRack has recommended 18" wheels, prices start around $130 a wheel. There is a fairly large selection between $130-200/wheel.

I have BSA 264 18x8 +40 w/ Blizzak LM-25 on my sport coupe and will be getting a new set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32 installed next week.

Welcome to the site, as far as 18" rims that clear the big calipers, here's a perfect set for you and you can run the 225s you listed or up to a 245/45/18.
Plus they look proper on a coupe too

I just picked up MB Twist wheels with Yokohama W.Drive tires from Discount Tire Direct 2 weeks ago for I think a little over $1100 mounted and balanced by them. I haven't put them on yet but will post pics when I do. Tire size I got were the 225/50R18. I chatted with a rep before I got the rims he said they should clear the brakes fine. I got the 18x8 ones not the 18x7.5.

I plan to take my summer Bridgestones off , as they still have some meat left, and switch to an aggressive NITTO All Season UHP 19" but I live in PA and the snow is moderate here. When it's bad I don't go out anyway.I will switch the Bridgestones back in late spring and use them until they are used up. This way i'll be saving my all seasons. When I need them they will still be in good condition with low mileage and they will be my all year round tires.

Don't bother getting the MB Twist wheels in 18" x 8" size from discount tire direct the fronts don't clear the stock Akibono brake calipers. I'm very angry because it's too late to return them so I'm forced buying wheel spacers now. I live chatted with someone on the site prior to purchasing them & he assured me there would be no problem with offset with the bigger brakes. The wheel will fit & turn but hits the caliper when bolted down glad I didn't drive without checking my calipers would've been a mess.

The backs fit fine it's just the fronts that are the issue. Anyone think 5mm wheel spacer kit will be enough? I currently have the spacers that came on my 08 sti when I bought it installed thank goodness they never sold but those are overkill the tires stick out of wheel well about a 1/2" & the inner hub ring don't fit so forced to run without it. They are the 20mm ones. I'm thinking if I can use the 5mm ones I would only need the fronts & the spacing won't look too bad.

another coupe wheel question

I have a 2008 g37s coupe, which I assume it has the big brakes. It has the stock 19's
For winter I am about to buy a set of stock 18"s with winter tires, but I just read they are from the XS coupe. Offset is slightly different from what I see 40 vs 45 on the back
Does anyone know if they will fit, clear the brakes and not mess anything up?
Help would be appreciated

Sorry to hear of your issue, what you can do is use this template (just stick it to some cardboard) and fit to the back of the wheel, this will show you how many mm you'll need to clear them. You can also stack a few washers on 3 of your lugs and gently fit the wheel on the hub to check for clearance. You want about 3mm of clearance just for piece of mind although since the caliper is fixed some have gotten by w/ just a credit card thickness
Here's that template, and hopefully just a 5mm spacing will get it to clear OK.

Thanks for your reply. I had my brother in law just look at it he said the 5mm should be fine It was only 1-2mm off so the 5mm ones will give me 3-4mm play. Here is what they look like on the car if anyone is interested. The backs will fit fine but you will need 5mm spacer kit for the front if anyone is interested in getting these.

Running these wheels with 225/50/18 snow tires on a S sedan. Front is close, but still has a good 1/4" or so clearance to the brakes at the closest spot.
