Anyone with OEM 18" Sport Wheels check this out.

There's been quite a few members that aren't too happy w/ the look of their 18" "duckfeet" wheels. These are quality Enkei wheels that also happen to be rare in that they are one of the few 18" wheels that can clear the big Akebono brakes. Rather than kicking them to the curb a different look may be all that's needed.

Rochester (John) photoshopped the Enkies w/ a black insert in the webs creating a spoked look similar to the OEM coupe wheels. There's a member on the site that has connections to a computer vinyl cutter so the inlays could be duplicated to perfection. All that's needed is someone to step up and give this project a shot. You could probably start out w/ just a minimal investment, enough to vinyl one wheel and see where it goes from there. If I had these wheels I'd jump at this, I vinyl wrapped my previous 5 spokers and it held up well and really transformed the look. With the inserts in the web area the vinyl wouldn't be in contact w/ curbs and away from rock chipping debris so they should hold up real well.
Here's Johns P-Shop

Here's the contact info for the member that can get the vinyl cut

Here's a pic of his wheels for reference

Hopefully we can get someone to take the bull by the horns and give this a shot, I think it really could give some new life to the "duckfeet"

Hmm. Well, my duckfeet are winter wheels now. However, I'd be interested in seeing how this shakes out, and might do this anyway, winter months notwithstanding. The 18" sport sedan rims do look better in that shopped picture, however the 19" sport coupe rims with the vinyl look silly, IMO.

Good idea, good thread. Subbed.

Interesting idea. If I didn't completely suck at precision work (ie measuring) I'd be in. But I'm a measure once, keep cutting kind of guy

I have a feeling that it will look cheap. Someone other than me should try it though.

Pretty sure plastidip wouldn't stand up over time in this particular application.

And it's a lot of masking to ask of a lazy bunch of garage queens.

Looks better than stock but it reminds me too much of the q50s rims, which I do not like at all.

I don't see it. But OK. And I don't care for these, either.

I guess I'm alone in liking the duckfeet wheels, particularly in comparison to the Journey's wheels.

Not alone, but in the minority. I like the duckfeet too

I've been tossing this idea around for a while for my duckfeet wheels. The photoshopped photo confirms the look I had in my head. Now I just have to get off my lazy but and start taping off sections, haha!

I like the duckfeet wheels as well. I didn't at first but they have definitely grown on me.

Some years ago, after I bought the car, a buddy from Canada came to visit, took one glance at the wheels, and said, "They look like duckfeet." So I started calling them "duckfeet" here on the forum.

Seems to have stuck. Too funny. This forum is so much fun sometimes.
