How to properly run spacers 8mm and smaller?

For those running an 3mm-8mm spacer, how do you deal with the center bore (hubcentric) situation? I was looking at the end of the stock center bore, and it protrudes quite a bit. If it protrudes more than the thickness of the spacer, will the wheel automatically engage in the stock center bore meaning that a hubcentric spacer is not necessary? It seems that all 8mm or smaller spacers are completely flat (without the extra lip in the center). I plan to swap out the OEM studs for extended ones.

Does anyone have first hand experience with this?

My wheels also came with a ring adapter to make it centered. How does this play a role in the above?

That gets a little tricky, you want enough of your OEM hub flange to remain so you can still have your rim hubs center like they should. Thin 3mm spacers still leave enough of the flange, but most of the adapter rings that insert into your aftermarket wheels are tapered so you need a fair amount of flange to mate into the tapered adapter. I don't think an 8mm spacer would leave enough flange to center the adapter very well. Some wheels don't need any adapters since they're very well balanced and mount true w/ just the lugcentric mount but this seems pretty rare. IIRC 10mm spacers are the thinnest hubcentrics available so you're in that gray area
