Opinions on re-drilled wheels?

After about a month of research, I finally decided to order Avant Garde m550 wheels. However, when I went to order, they said that they don't have my bolt pattern in stock. As an alternative, they said they could re-drill a set of 5x112 and that I wouldn't be able to tell. Still comes with full warranty. Does this sound ok?

There's plenty of vendors that carry AGs, I'd check around first for one that has them in the proper bolt pattern, shouldn't be too hard to find. Try B2Autodesigns and ask for Charles or GetYourWheels.com, both are site vendors too

After calling several vendors, I am learning that Avant Garde only makes these wheels (in silver) in the 5x112 bolt pattern. AG does not make this clear on their website. However, nearly every vendor I call says that they can easily be redrilled (Avant Garde does the re drilling) and comes with the full warranty. I guess my question still stands, is this acceptable?

by redrill do they mean literally drill the 5x114 pattern ontop of the 5x112?

If so, I personally would pass just because it sorta looks cheap having that many holes in your wheels, and if they're "re-drilling" I dont see how that wouldnt be visible. companies like xxr or rota usually do that to appeal to both patterns.

Omarg. Yeah that was my thinking too. However they all promise me that the redrill will not be visible in any way. The redrill is so close that the bolts basically cover the original holes and the redrilled portion. In fact one vendor says that it's common for some places not to even tell the customer that a redrill was done because they would never know the difference.

Here is an image of what the redrill would look like. Pink is current hole, blue is the redrilled part.

I had my wheels re-drilled and have not had any problems, I just need to get them refinished

If you're set on those particular wheels and only available in the smaller pattern not much else you can do, just be sure to use tight bore adapters if you go w/ the redrill.

I wouldn't say I'm *completely* set on them. I also like the Vossen CV3s, but they are $500 more than the AGs.

BTW, blnewt I think you have great words of advice on almost every thread I've read lately. Kudos to you for your willingness to help others.
