Tires(285/30/20) toasted after less than 10k, how to care?

I have spc camber kits installed and wheels aligned by the dealer in Feb, everything was in spec then. Last week I found out that one of the rear wheels has worn down to the core(the inner part), I took the car to Sears for an alignment audit and found alignments of 3 wheels were off. I immediately called the dealer and see if there was any explanation to this, I was told that it's normal that alignments could get knocked off spec because the sportiness of my car, due to suspension mods, fat tires, I will need to check alignment more often to keep up.

I have 20" CV3, springs, sways and strut brace.

I'll need to replace rear tires asap obviously. The intention of this thread is not to blame anybody(part of it was my fault of not knowing), but to find out how you guys care for your fat tires with similar mods to prevent premature wear. I don't want to spent $$$ replacing tires every year since it costs 300/tire.

Thanks

I'd try to find an alignment specialty shop rather than a chain auto center.
Never had any alignment issues, maybe I've been lucky but I've hit some pretty significant potholes, road damage, etc. Hopefully all your toe/camber bolts were tightened correctly.
Sucks about your tires going bad so soon

I am thinking going to firestone to get the lifetime alignment deal, what do you think? Not sure if there are any alignment specialty shop around my area tho. Dealer did check the bolts and I was told they're still tightened correctly. I tried to confront them that alignment wasn't done correctly, but they gave me the excuse that alignment work isn't warrantied. Sigh!

As long as you can be assured they work on lowered vehicles you should be alright and as long as they give you a printed spec readout. Wouldn't hurt to be able to check your alignment more often, especially since you've had issues.

One other possibility, how soon after getting your lowering springs did you get the alignment? If the springs hadn't fully settled that would explain how your alignment on at least 3 wheels was out of spec. If you got it aligned a day or two after the spring install that could be it. Just a thought.

Firestone has a great lifetime alignment period... just as long as they can lift a lowered G or car for that fact... some shops can't get our cars up.. I use American Tire they have a lift for lowered cars well the ramps are longer to give a lift... took me a while to find shops that have it...
back on topic..

2/3 Weeks is standard rule on springs to settle then aligned...

That might be like blnewt said happened... dips, pot holes and even slope driveways will knock it off... but not usually that bad in a 10k miles camber was your issue... to wear out the inside..

But early alignment after install they always change 2+3 later It was a lesson I learned... just like you the hard way...ouch

Depending on the car, and every one is a tad different, you may need an alignment kit to dial it in enough to prevent that type of wear. Many times the shop can get it close, but will need an alignment kit to achieve that sweet spot.

The OP stated that he had the SPC kits. It sounds like he either got it aligned too quick or the shop had a poor tech doing the work. Hard to image 3 of the 4 wheels being way off during normal driving.

BTW, welcome back Neal, hope you enjoyed your time off!
