WORK Wheels Not Hub Centric? Causing Vibration?

So I have a vibration in what I think is coming from the front wheels. The steering wheel starts to shake at about 50mph and gets worse all the way up until 80mph. It also pulls to the left when I let go of the steering wheel. I read in another thread that someone found a bolt missing in their driveshaft causing a vibration. I checked mine out and all the bolts are there and there is no abnormal play in the driveshaft or u-joints.

I took my front wheels off to do some more investigation and noticed that my WORK wheels are NOT hub centric. I've had these wheels for a year and never noticed this OR the vibration. I had one hub ring left over from my 350Z that fit the wheel and the hub of my G, but not tightly. I thought these rings went on rather tight. So I went ahead and installed the one on the drivers side and drove the car. It feels like it has reduced some of the vibration and some of the left hand pull.

Would the wheels not being hub centric cause my vibration and pull? I figured these wheels would be hub centric for as much as I paid for them

I would look at hub rubs and wheel balance. The main reason aftermarket wheels aren't hubcentric is because different car makes have different hub sizes. Unless specified for custom hub size, they will make a "universal" fit to fit over all hub sizes. Also, when it comes to resale, it can be easier since its not only nissan/infiniti specific at 66.1mm.

Could you explain "hub rub"? I'm kinda leaning towards wheel balance, but I want that to be my last option. I don't like other people handling my wheels lol.

Hub rubs!

Sounds like a possible shifted belt in one of the front tires. Lack of hub rings don't usually cause pulling, just vibration in some cases.

Before spending any money at a shop, get the right hub rubs! See if it helps the vibration. Also, check that there are no bulges or bubbles on the tread surface of the front tires.

For the pull, also try swapping the front wheels left to right to see if the car pulls to the opposite side. If it does, you have a bad tire and could also be causing the vibration. If it doesn't, probably just out of alignment. But before spending money on an alignment, put your stock wheels back on and see how it rides.

If it rides smooth and straight with the stock wheels on, you're alignment is fine and I'd look at the tires on your work wheels. Start with the hub rings. But if you ran the same wheels before and had no issues, it definitely sounds like a bad tire!

Thanks for your reply. I ordered some hub rings today. Should be here in a few days. I'll slap them on and see if it helps with the vibration.

I can jack the car up in the front and let the wheels hang. If I spin the wheel and look where the tire would meet the ground; it does not roll smooth. It kind of wobbles. Just a little. Both front tires do this.
