Help Dunlop SP Sport Maxx A1-A A/S destroyed
Greetings.
I own a 2009 G37 2WD Journey. It has less than 26,000 miles. Today, while driving home from the beach for 4th of July vacation, my right rear tire blew.
The other 3 tires seem to be in good shape, and the tread on all 4 was quite adequate, but as you can see in the photograph, it has a pretty substantial split in it and is obviously beyond repair. Some quick price checking indicates this is around a $300 retail tire new. I just have a hard time rationalizing why this tire should have separated and come apart like it did given the fact that the vehicle barely has 25,000 miles on it. Its been predominantly driven in North Carolina and its my daily driver, so I don't see any possibility of dry-rot, or some type of road salt decay based on my climate.
Has anyone else had any issues with the Sport Maxx A1-A A/S? Do I have any potential warranty claim or even a pro-rated price for a new tire?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks for your time.

IMO, regardless of how you get this tire replaced (warranty or otherwise), I would replace both tires on the same axle at the minimum. If you don't, you'll have 2 tires with different diameters and different friction coefficients, even if it's the same tire model/size. The diameters probably isn't much of an issue, but having tires with different level of grip will affect handling. If the other 2 are sufficiently worn, consider replacing all 4. Good luck!
I called up Goodyear customer support today, scheduled an inspection of the tire at a local Goodyear shop, and ended up getting a new tire prorated by about 1/3 of the cost.
Thanks for the advice guys, you saved me about $100!
