Performance Tire and Wheel Package - Dealer Install?
Performance Tire and Wheel Package - Dealer Install?
I am considering a 2013 g37x that is outfitted exactly as I want with the exception of the Performance Tire and Wheel Package. Is that something the dealer can add for the $600 MSRP or does the car need to be built with that option from the factory?
If you don't ask you will never know. I saw the new Q this week while I was getting an oil change and it had Infiniti wheels by Enkei with 245/40/19 on all 4 corners- sadly that is about the best thing I liked about the car. I just bumped up to 245/50/17 Nitto Motivos on my 2012 Journey and what an outstanding ride improvement. Got 26 mpg going 425 miles last Saturday on hot Texas roads, cruise was on about 78. I'm in Houston so I cannot help you with the cold weather issues.
I'm picking up a 2013 G37x Sedan this weekend with the Performance Tire and Wheel Package, so much better than the stocks which I've lived with on my 2010. Anybody comment on the tires that come with this package? I didn't notice what brand or size they even were.

It might be "new car syndrome", but my 2013 g37x is worlds better. Yes, it has the wheel and tire upgrade, which I think makes it look infinitely better (I HATED the stock wheels on my last car). But the 2013...
1) Is MUCH quieter. This might be a reflection of the tires, but it is not my imagination (I actually used an iPhone decibel reader!).
2) The 2013 is much smoother in shifting gears. I assume this is a result of the updated transmission programming.
3) I am getting MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better gas mileage. I recall when I 1st got the 2011 that the mileage was so bad that I called the dealer about it. I was in the 15-16 range for a month or 2, then it worked its way up to about 18ish for the remainder of the time I had it. Even on long trips all highway, I would only get in the 23-25 range. On this 2013, I am WELL above that, at about 19-21 for my normal driving. And I just completed a 1,000 mile round trip and got 28. I would assume again that this is at least in part to the programming and wheels.
So yeah...I am very pleased all around!
I had a 2011 g37x with stock wheels and tires in the past (I did have to replace the tires last summer).

That's weird about the MPG, my 2010 X sedan which has had all the ECU/TCU updates with stock 17's, and HyperTech Tuner and I've always been above 20 MPG with mixed but fairly aggressive driving. Now that I drive close to 80 miles per day, mostly back roads 45-60 mph and a little highway, I'm averaging about 21.5 - 22.5 MPG every tank. Straight highway trips I've seen in the 28 MPG range so I can't complain.
How many miles did you have on the old tires when you replaced them?

As for when I changed my original tires...I would say it was ~25,000 miles or so.
