Question on stolen wheel lug - Please help
Hey folks
My work place's parking lot has always been safe but tonight I noticed one of the wheels has missing a wheel lug and it is the actual key lug that is missing, other 4 lugs are still there, two questions:
1. How can a thief stolen the lug without the key lug?
2. is it possible Infiniti responsible on this to replace for free? because again this is something the key lug supposed protecting against. right?

I can't really tell you what happened, but pretty sure that this won't be covered by the warranty.
The only thing to do is to report it to your local Infiniti dealer and see if they will cover it...they just might consider replacing it under good faith.
Since it is one of the security lock nuts, they will have to replace all 4 to match.
I hope it works out!

2. No, this is not something going wrong with the car. Locking lug nuts are meant to make a would be thief look else where. They do not guarantee your wheels wont be stolen.
It would be like trying to get your money from a car alarm company.
Have you had service recently involving removing the tires? The shop may not have tightened the locking nut properly (hand tight). While highly unlikely, it is possible it could have worked its way loose and fallen off.
Only other thought is if someone was casing your car and took one of the locking lugs off to match up later or got interrupted in the process of trying to remove the wheel by someone coming by. Not sure if your parking area has security cameras but might ask if you can review the footage. I'd also try parking in a different spot if you don't have assigned parking, closer to a well traveled or lit area or near a camera location.
Hopefully it just came loose and fell off, you might contact the dealer, some people ask to have their locks removed and they might have a few extras laying around they might give you.

Don't remember since I don't have my oem lugs/locks anymore, but doesn't the lug key have the code stamped on it? If so you might be able to get another lug nut that way.
Hopefully BLambs first scenario is what happened
