Rim Repair Costs and what is Ghost Chrome?

So I obtained a little curb rash from a wooden curb on one rim and some fo the coat is cracking from another rim. I called around to some places and asked for some quotes. One guy said $75 a rim (cheap) and it needs Ghost Chrome repair sounds fishy to me.

What kind of prices have you paid for rim finish repairs?

I just had one wheel done, about an inch of rash, it cost $100.00 to repair. I guess he repainted the whole wheel. The quote to redo all 4 wheels is $500.00

Do you think each one is bad enough to get fixed?

What is Ghost Chrome? Your wheels look Hyper Silver? But $75 is a fair price as long as its blended right!
I heard the term Ghost Chrome but online its blk chrome... yours are not that! I'd ask him why IMO...
YET OUCH ON THAT BURN!

I just got my car 2 months ago and all 4 rims had curb rash. I paid $65 per rim and he said it would have been $75 per for 1-2 rims.

I think what you got quoted is a fair price. I had quotes of $150 and up but the guy I used was mobile so he did not have all the overhead of a building to support.

Actually, the Infiniti wheels look great now that the one with curb rash was repaired. I'm thinking about getting wheels on another car done, it's Silver. I'm tbinking of either Silver, hyper silver, or gun metal. Hard to decide what to go with. The wheels on that car are painted silver, but one has some slight scratches on it, so I'm thinking of having them all redone. Maybe I should just have the damaged wheel resprayed to the same color and forget spending the money on the other three.

$75 sounds about right. It may depend on the finish. When I bent one of my wheels, it was $75 to get fixed so it was "round" again

i'm embarrassed to even tell you now! i only had the car a short time when i curbed one of the wheels. if i ever do it again though i'm just leaving it.
first off they had to send the wheel away. i knew going in that the hypersilver was a multi-step finishing process. so they stripped and repainted the whole wheel. it looks perfect but i paid $250 for it!
that said, i live right on the border with detroit so i called a place over there and they wanted $150 for the job. but i figured by the time i factor in toll each way x2 (wheel drop off and pick up) plus my time i wouldn't be saving all that much.
maybe it's just a regional thing (supply and demand). not much choice in my area. the nearest mobile wheel service is a 3.5 hour drive away (he would have charged $100 but not done the entire wheel, just the scraped parts).

For around $75 a wheel you can powdercoat your wheels, and they will take care of any rash you have. Bonus the wheel finish will be much more durable. That's the option I took. Got em done in gunmetal for $85 a wheel. The only downside is you need an extra set of wheels or you need to put your car up for a few days.
