Wider tire on stock 2009 G37x rims?

Thinking of going with 245/50/17 instead of stock size 225/55/17 in the General G-Max AS-03's. 26.7" diameter vs stock 26."8. Would increase width from 8.9" to 9.6". Tire Rack said this would work just fine and give better performance all around and look a little more aggressive.

My question is would the wider tire look too aggressive sticking out too far and look like a 4x4 truck? The tires would stick out 0.4" or 10mm farther from rim.

Anyone done this?

Should give a nice look, 225s are SOOO narrow for a car w/ this HP. Wheels are pretty sunken in from the factory, you'll be happy w/ that setup for sure

I had the the 245/50/zr17 G-Max AS-03's put on my 09 x sedan yesterday replacing the one RSA 225/55/r17's. they look way more aggressive especially looking from behind vehicle. A much wider stance. The handling is much more responsive, but a little noticed road noise increase but nothing bothering. I'll post a pic or 2 after I wash it this weekend for anyone interested in the look

Who cares if it's a bit noisier, now you can drive it like it was meant to be driven

Here are the tires 245/50/zr17. General G-Max 03's on my 2009 G37x. I like the look and it handles a lot tighter but keeps a relatively smooth ride

Without a question the new tires make a visual and I'm sure a handling difference. Nice upgrade.
