Alignment scratched my wheels!

Took my car to a local Les Schwab to get an alignment done and that afternoon noticed a coupe of good sized scratches on one of my brand new Vossen CV3's. I was livid.

Called and spoke with the manager who denied it but said he would review their security cams. I sent pictures and followed up with 2 emails. Finally got an email back saying they may have caused the damage. They wanted me to bring it by to check it out. Took the car in today and they said that they have a company who can resurface the wheel to make it look good but that it might in fact make it look worse. Any experience with this??

My wheels are only 2 weeks old!

hopefully they will pay to fix the damage, take lots of high res pics and tell the manager that it should be in brand new condition, else let them buy you a new wheel.

did you not stay with the car during alignment? in future stay with car, unless you really trust the shop

Damn that sucks. Best you can do is take it back and tell them that if they can fix it back like they were then great. If it makes it worse then they will be buying you new wheels. Put the ball in their court.

There's a shop here in Houston that can make them look like new if you choose to ship them. People ship him wheels from all over the country and internationally every day.

Sorry to hear about your wheels. You should post pics so we can get an idea about how bad the damages.

Sorry to hear this happened. I agree, have them fix it back to the way it was or buy you a replacement wheel. Best of luck I hope they resolve this for you.

That really sucks. At least they acknowledge the problem and are willing to fix it. Next time I will take pictures before I take in brand new wheels for alignment, and make sure whoever is repressible for the job aware that wheels are flawless. Nowadays you can't trust anybody...

By offering to get the wheel repaired for you, is that an admission of guilt?
If it is then, if the repair is unsatisfactory, they owe you a new one.
Get and keep as much paper work as you can.

That's not necessarily true from a standpoint of reasonableness or legally. If I leave my car at a shop and they scratch the paint, they have a responsibility to repair or repaint it as best as can reasonably be expected. They don't have to buy me a completely new car if it's not absolutely perfect.

It does suck that they screwed up her wheels, but admission of guilt or not they are not necessarily responsible to buy new ones if those can be reasonably repaired. Hopefully they can repair it to the point you can't tell the damage was ever there. The place I mentioned makes a very good living doing that with wheels form all over.

I will ask the wheel repair company to decide if they think they can repair it back to like new or otherwise Les Schwab can get me a new wheel. I was flabbergasted when Les Schwab offered to just refund me the $86 I paid for the alignment. Hahaha....ya riiiight! I want my Vossen's fixed!

A show of good faith would be for them to repair them to new condition like they were before they damaged them AND refund your $86 for your trouble.

I was asking a question because I don't know. I was not stating, as true or factual, that it's an admission of quilt.
You more or less said the same thing I did.
If a car shop scratched my paint, a reasonable repair would be one in which I cold not tell it was ever scratched. Anything less would be unacceptable. That is basically what I said as well. If it cannot be properly repaired to your satisfaction it should be replaced.
Replacing by buying a new car (an assembly of multiple parts) is far different than replacing a wheel imo.
