Scary Tire Wear
Scary Tire Wear
Just put my winter wheels on and noticed some wicked scary wear on my rears. They are Forgestar F14's with 275/35ZR19 100W Nitto Invo's on them.
I'm a total noob with the wheel stuff, what do I need to do next year when I get new tires? Do I need stiffer springs or something?

First, check for damaged or broken suspension components.
Second, are you on the stock suspension?
Yes: Go have an alignment done
No: Do you have a camber kit?

When a car is slammed, it's very difficult to see this unless you actually lift the car up and look underneath. It's not unusual. This type of wear pattern is pretty common on extremely slammed and cambered cars. It comes with the territory.
my toe wasn't that bad and I noticed black tire dust all over the back of my car before I got the alignment. Those two are much worse than mine was. Mine was on a white car so maybe that is why I noticed the tire dust/shavings so quickly, but these are two pretty extreme examples with a normal drop. Now, if you are slammed/stanced. Thats just life. Be a little more observant of your car.

Or Positive camber with excessive toe in!!
All the more reason to check the tires more often....OR, do it right if slammed: wheel and tire combo that can be aligned properly.
This can be very dangerous on the road...it affects other people as well if a blowout occurs on the highway.
