?, turn chrome lip to polished lip, not a DIY

I spontaneously bought some wheels today that came with a chrome lip.

After taking it home and looking at it more I came to the conclusion that the chrome lip is too bling for my "murder everything chrome theme". I've spent the past several hours trying to look for a DIY for creating a polished lip but came up empty. Ironically, there are a lot of polished to chrome DIYs .

Do you guys have any ideas how this can be accomplished vs taking it to a shop? I thought about taking a 2000 grit sandpaper or steel wool to it but was too afraid to try. It also crossed my mind about trying duplicolors shadow to make it black chrome but I really want to see what a polished lip would look like first.

Thanks for any input!

chrome is a coating unlike polished wheels which are bare polished aluminum. Sanding will only scratch the coating, and steel wool will take it off small layers at a time, but to completley remove it is goig to take a LOT of time. You would be better off buying new wheels.

Bummer! Guess I'll have to post-pone my bilateral carpal tunnel surgery, lol! I'm going to call the vendor tomorrow to see if I can get something else instead. Otherwise, I may end up selling these or trying the black chrome.

Thanks, love your wheels btw!
