Wider Wheels All Around?

Thanks for the responses.
I wouldn't spend the money on a new wheels to get a slightly wider look.
I was planning to get some winter tires and thought I could just put the winter ones on the factory wheels, freeing me to go wider along with some better summer rubber: I don't really care for the all-season Bridgestones that it came with. I'll have to go check, but I think on the 2012 G37xS, the wheels are the same on all four corners.
I'm gathering from the responses that an 8.5" wide wheel with 245/45 tires would fit fine all around, and possibly 9.0" would fit as well, as long as the offsets are right.
My other car is also a Corvette (Z06) and definitely is the car I drive if I want maximum performance. However, I spend a fair amount of time in the Infiniti and feel it should have the look and performance that I like.

Why in the hell would anyone care if someone wants to change the look &/or performance of their car. IMO & most others around here, the stock wheels are very bland and the stock tires (Goodyear RSA-s, not the Potenzas) are garbage (at least for a 326hp car). I guess all the wheel vendors and anyone else that has business selling aftermarket parts for Infinitis should just go elsewhere. No need to change the look from stock and try to make the car "your own". 
Having 20s w/ the stiffer sidewalls makes the G corner & handle so much better than the higher profile 17 & 18s, I really wish I would have just stuck w/ the stockers though since it isn't a "true" performance car. Also should have kept the restrictive exhaust too, damn I just love wasting money!

I find it amusing that an '09 Z06 owner finds sense in this over the '06 Cpe where the delta in power is rather significant. What makes it interesting is the comparison to a G37 with less of a difference in power (albeit ridiculous TQ), or even a Boxster which has less power -- if power was the initial argument.
And, FWIW, it's not about what car we all drive at the end of the day really. It's about how much we enjoy it, and how far our skills go.
I won't go into arguing much about power and such, after all i've seen one too many "girlie" Miata's literally run circles (laps) around much, *much*, higher powered vehicles.

Pretty sure the OEM 18" Enkie's on the Sport Package are 24.5 and 25.5 pounds respectively front to back. That's actually a decent weight for 18" rims at 8.0 and 8.5" widths.

5 pounds per corner can make a noticeable difference. I used to run M35 18"s for a while and those were heavy. I could feel it clearly thru the steering wheel and a moderate MPG drop. Putting the 18" sports rims made a difference. Putting the stock 17"s back on made a huge difference.
I also prefer lighter tires (~25lbs).

In the G37 community, which rims seem to be the typical choice for both priorities of being lightweight & stylish? Eventually I want to relegate my 18" rims to winter use, and get something summer-only.

^ Hard to say, most of the '37 folks have gone big and for show. I have yet to see anyone get anything lightweight.
I'm probably one of the few you can count in one hand who has lightweight 19s for daily and equally lightweight 18s for track.
Also, with 180+ documented tanks and driving styles, i honestly cannot say that marginally lighter wheels makes any noticeable difference in MPG.

Agreed. I keep seeing that a lot here the more I read into this forum.
It does seem that 80-90% of the people who get aftermarket wheels don't look at weight as a priority. I can't imagine going larger than 19", and even with 19's, the sedan should probably drop a little.
