TPMS question

I am looking at buying a set of summer wheels for my 09 G sedan. Will i need to buy TPMS for these wheels? I honestly don't want to spend all the money for it and they would only be used in the summer. If i don't get the sensors, will there be some sort of warning light that goes off on the gauge cluster?

The TPMS light will stay on. If you dont mind it, you save $200.

Yes, you will have a low pressure light that will always stay on. Some tire shops will have an issue mounting tires to wheels w/out sensors so keep that in mind.

The light in the G is not that annoying. It flashes for about a min each time you start the car, then remains on. The light is not all that disturbing when driving at night.

Which wheels were you going to leave the sensors in?

After benefitting from TPMS, I personally would pay the extra amount. You might want to consider keeping the sensors in whatever set of tires will be on the car for the majority of each year. How often do you check your tire air pressures?

Completely agree. The snow tires stay on the car 3-4 months at most. This year I didn't put them on til mid january, and they came off mid feb because of the warm temps we're having.

IMO spending $200 for a safety item is well worth it, especially in the heat of the summer where an underinflated tire could possibly blow out causing a serious accident. After all, that’s the whole reason why TPMS became a requirement.
