New Tires / Lease Return

Hey guys,

I'm currently at 25k miles and have 9 months until my car (09' G Sedan Sport) is due back to the dealership. I have some questions regarding replacement tires, as everyone I ask (dealership, service, friends, etc) all say different things.

I figured you guys would know best as I'm sure you've returned Infiniti leases already.

My front tire are still the OEM tires and they are getting quite bald. I was going to try to keep them, but not sure I'll last another 9 months as they are down to the wear bars.

The rear tires I replaced with these tires:
Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110

They ride great, but now I'm wondering since they are "Y" rated for speed, do they need to be "Z"?

Also do I now need to get Hankooks on the front? I want to get the cheapest decent tires I can find for the front as I don't have a lot of money to spend especially when I will only be able to use them for a few months.

What specs do I need to match from the OEM? Can I have mixed brand tires?

The tires I need in the front are 225/50/18, anyone know any good cheap replacements?

Thanks.

Z rated tires are really only applicable to cars that can go over 200 mph. Y rated tires are tested to speeds in excess of 186 mph, so you'll be more than safe in the G.

Cheapest prices on the Hankooks new will probably be on tirerack, but you might be able to pick up a used set on the marketplace or somewhere else.

Read your lease - I am sure you will need 4 matching tires with at least 3/32.

That's going to be hard to do considering the Ventus V12 evo K110 doesn't come in a 225/50-18. Since it's a sport/staggered arrangement you are limited. When you bought your new rears, I would have bought into a series that made both sizes (front and rear) I needed.

As financeman said, check your lease and see what your options are. You may have to buy four new tires if they must all match.

Also, I wouldn't recommend driving around for 9 months on bald front tires.

+1....dont drive around on bald tires...

im wondering the same thing with my lease so i will be interested to see what happens with you...cause i will be turning car in with around 30k ...and i know OEM tires wont last that long... especially with the way i drive.

and i wont want to put $$$ rubber on my car if im just turning it in soon...

if the lease does not require 4 matching tires...then buy some used ones from ones on here...or find something cheap on tirerack
