what tires to choose!

hey all! so i need to buy some lo pro's for my wheels which hopefully ill have soon and im just wondering which of these two tires would Myg37 members choose. My bro in law gets a fairly decent discount at tirerack and i narrowed down my selection there to either the yokohama Advan Sport or the popular Hankook Ventus V12... i understand the Advans are a significant amount more (nearly 400) but i suppose ur paying for the JDM bling factor and what i would assume to be a better brand of tire. The Hankooks are rated highly and seem to be the more reasonable option but i have heard some bad long term stories. all in all i jus wanna put this thread up here to see what you guys have to say or if u feel theres any better options out there on tirerack. i guess if i dont recieve any feedback ill go with the Hankooks... thanks in advance for the help

^ When are you getting your wheels?

It all depends on how much you want to spend. Both are great tires.

Haha thanks Ray just waiting for my lip to get from paint so I can take new pics and do the next update thread lolz

I would definitely recommend Advans if you want to dish out for them. I am running the V12's with no complaints but my next set of tires will most likely be advan's.

what sizes/offsets are you going with?

damn cant wait! what lip did u choose from autokits ? and thank you i appreciate the imput! i think the advans are bad *** but its all about justifying that high price tag. as for my sizes im goin 275/30/20 and 245/35/20... idk why they wont tell me offsets but i believe there fairly high i think 30 F and 40 R for the works

I would choose Vredesteins over either one of those. I'm on my third set, get 30,000 out of them or so, love the way they look and handle. Plus they're quiet till almost the end.

I would say do the conti DW's or the Bridgestone RE760 sports. I have the re760s since I'm running 255/285, but I will prolly do DWs again next time if I go to a bit smaller tire. I heard some ppl talk about some flex in the sidewall of the kooks n I chose not to get em. Prices for each of the 2 above are reasonable in comparison to the Kooks

Hankook Ventus V12 - Sidewall flex isn't an issue unless you track your car, HARD. G is too heavy for track use anyway IMO.

They're sticky, quiet, and handle well. Most importantly, they aren't pricey and should have a $60 rebate going on right now.

+1 for the V12s... best bang for the buck IMO. Daily driver too, if that helps (pretty good in the rain on my X coupe). I do switch back to the stockers for the winter.

I have heard that the Yokohamas and the Hankooks are known to have weak sidewalls and could blow out. I don't know if its true, but I have heard this from many other car enthusiasts so I stayed away from those two tires. I have Toyo Proxes T1R's in the front and they are awesome for comfort, noise, and grip, but the tread life is maybe 25k miles if you baby them. I just replaced my rear Toyo's with the Conti Extreme Contact DW tires. So far I'm liking them and I actually hated Conti before these tires, cuz of a previous car with Conti's. The Conti's have great ride comfort, low noise, and good traction. Tread life is supposedly 35k miles, but I just got them so not sure about that yet.

My friend had the FK452s on his old sedan and they got crazy loud towards the end of the life and they got more uncomfortable as they got closer to the end of their life. I will never buy a set based on his experience and riding in it. But I'm kinda picky about my tires. I don't track my G either, but we do some hardcore twisties and curves on public road and I intend to do some auto crossing this month and starting next year. So the V12s are out for me, my RE760's have yet to cause a problem for me in ride comfort or aggressive driving.
