shimmy/wobble while driving
shimmy/wobble while driving
I have an 09x sedan, it was at the dealership about 2 weeks ago for warped rotors. since getting it back, the car's been great, no problems whatsoever. Yesterday, i was driving on the highway at about 55 - car warmed up in the driveway and was on the road for about 5 min - when out of nowhere the wheel started to shake/wobble. For those who have had the brake judder problem, it felt like that just a lot more intense. my dad was sitting in the passenger seat and said he could feel it just sitting there. When we drove home, the wobble was still noticeable but wasn't as bad. And the wobble really isn't noticeable at lower speeds.
Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know what it is?

Months back, got on the freeway and mt G was shivering/wobbling like an old beater that was out of alignment with both fronts out of balance. Was like that for a like 5-10 miles at freeway speed then blamo....gone. So weird.
or a bent rim,i had the inside barrel fixed.
do you have aftermarket wheels?
my stocks no wobble at all.
it could be how they torqued the lugs unevenly.
besides the balancing issue, becuase my stocks were not torqued evenly.
went back to dealer & they re torqued the lugs & problem went away.

Mine wobbled like hell when I got it. If you got it used/trade-in, they only inspect the balance under 5,000 miles. Go to a shop and have them do a high speed balance.
If its REALLY bad spend the extra $ and do a road test on all 4 wheels. The computer will tell you what wrong, ie bent rim, alignment....

There seems to be an ongoing problem with the Gs and this shaking/shuddering that has nothing to do with balancing. I paid the idiots at the dealer for balancing even though the problem happens at low speeds, and there is clearly some drag on the car. Add to this, one of the suspension guys I use, Eurotire in Fairfield, NJ has advised me that rotors have become a problem with the Gs.
IMO, this has nothing to do with rotors, and has everything to do with braking system applying the brakes even when your foot isn't on the pedal (calipers/pistons sticking?). I say this because people's rotors are warping on these cars more frequently than normal (prior to 50k without heavy usage) and the cars are shaking at various speeds, then it clears up, then it shakes again, without the brakes being applied by the user.
Anyone? Any Nissan techs on the board?

And do this NOW... my brother in law had the same problem on a different car right after taking it to dealer and they hadnt tightened all the bolts... tire fell off doing 60 MPH - lucky nobody got hurt....
It could also be lack of hubcentric rings for aftermarket wheels. If Op has aftermarket wheels without matching hub rings (bringing the bore down to Infinitis 66.2 mm bore) there may be some slight play in the mount causing the vibration/wobble issues.
so weird that i was about to post the same question. i had a flat tire which i got fixed but ever since my car wobbles on the freeway. i think it needs balance.
btw i'm on my OEM 17s.
gonna visit the shop to get it balanced.

I'll check the torque on the lugs, but we're talking about something that is not consistent. It comes and goes without warning. Additionally,. there seem to be a few people on various boards (here, Nico, otherwise..) that have mentioned this mysterious issue. I bet many others are just embarrassed to even mention it because they think they're imagining things. LOL.

The dealer replaced the rotors...and then the problem developed. I wonder if the pads might be rubbing on the new rotors...heating them up, causing the shutter. That's might guess. Its highly coincidental this happened shortly after your rotors were replaced.
