2010 G37s & WINTER TIRES/RIMS

OK, so the girlfriend wanted the 2010 g37s, so the girlfriend gets one.
(traded in her dodge ram daytona = THANK GOD..)

Unfortunately for those who own this car, we know that this car comes with SUMMER TIRES.
So living in new jersey, with last year receiving 2 storms with over 2 feet of snow each, i knew this 6mt, on summer tires will not do. I got a hold of a few sets of 2010 G37s(4 door) rims(brand new) and i offered her a set(thankfully, the girlfriend reluctantly went along with my idea).
These us 225/50-18(Front) & 245/45-18(Rear) tires, and at that size, they are much, much cheaper then winter tires or all season tires for original 225/45-19(Front) & 245/40-19(Rear).
Plus beating these rims up, and getting salt on them, well- frankly isnt so upsetting. I ended up mounting 2xx/55-18 perelli winter tires all around on the 'winter' rims to help elevate the vehicle a little. It actually raised the car by .7 of an inch over the stock rims & tires so piles of snow wont be an issue for her as much now!

SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

There are at least a few threads regarding winter tires. From my experience a RWD G37 with good winter tires is much better than a FWD with all-seasons and allows you to drive the G37 well even in snow.

I drive my G37S 6MT all over the place in winter. Lowered on eibachs, 18" setup with michelin X-Ice Xi2. I am facing nice and harsh canadian winters by the way. With conservative driving and control of the clutch and gas pedal you can get anywhere with this car...
