I would love to hear how they do in the snow and also on the highway in the dry and wet so please keep us posted. I don't know when we will get snow in NY, but this is the first time I had snow tires any of my cars (i have had 16 over the years) so I will share the experiance of driving with Xi2s

 

2-3 inches tomorrow and I have an appointment with the dealer at 8:00 AM so it will be a good test.

edit: roads were mostly clear but wet. it was cold and I drove a little aggressively but the tires have worked great so far.

 

We just saw our first flurries today so i guess its time to put mine on.

 

I just got home after a meeting. The snow was coming down pretty hard. I have Yoko A/S Avids Envigs. I had no problems with grip up hill or up my driveway slight incline.

I like to hear from Alex on your tire choice. Next year I'm thinking of LM-60s, cause I never lived in snow driving before and I'm pretty uneasy about driving although most of the time the roads are cleared. Just don't want to get stuck at work trying to make it home.

 

im also in nyc..stock tires on awd was fine for me. obviously your not gonna be speeding in slippery snowy conditions..barely had any slip at all.

 

I live in Maryland and had the stock tires. I couldn't even get out of 1/2 in of snow. I would just slip everywhere. Put on some Continental ExtremeContact DWS All Season, and now I plow through snow. The stock tires suck in snow, even in rain.

 

What size tires are you running?

+1 on zero traction with stock tires.

We don't get a lot of snow in my area, but that means that when we do our road crews are not really well equipped to get things back to normal as quickly as heavier hit areas. So even with very little snow/ice, things can get a bit scary. I thought I could make it through the season, but changed my mind quickly.

Opted for Blizzaks (LM60's) after a friend of mine put them on his 370z and it hasn't snowed again since. *sigh*

I can confirm, however, that they'll take out a squirrel without missing a beat.

 

If you have a S type coupe, you would definitely want to get yourself some snow tires. I live in vancouver and in 2008 winter, I had to leave my car on the side of the road and walk about 5km to get home. Car literally wouldn't move but slipping.

 

Yeah you definitely need snow tires. I had a G37s before I switched to the X and It was useless and dangerous in an inch of snow.

 

moving fine with the OEM dunlop all seasons last night in about 2 inches of snow...slip light came on a couple times going up one hill but not too bad once again...

 

My opinion is, if you have the $ to buy the G, please spend the little bit of $ to get winter tires if your area gets snow, seriously, the stock tires are horrible in snow. Is it really worth it to save $1000-$2000 & greatly heighten the risk of a accident?

 

It actually doesn't cost nearly that much extra since your rsummer tires will last longer. You're really just paying up front for the additional snow tires (although they wear a little faster). Plus, you can sell the rims when you're done with them.

 

I am in NJ and I am not even thinking about getting out of garage on my X, Jeep is great for this weater, with Blizzaks installed!
