Wheels and Tires Came in What should i do?

should i just throw the new rims and wheels on for the months of Nov and Dec and put a good wax on the rim or should i wait until i am out of here jan 1st to put them on. i feel like its a waste for the new wheels to just sit in the garage ha? any advice?

I looked through some of your posting history and here's what I can gather:

1. You are in a colder climate until January when you will go back to somewhere warmer.

2. You just bought a new set of expensive wheels and A/S tires.

3. You want to know if you should wait until you go back home to put the new wheels and tires on.

Is that what you are asking here?

I guess that depends -- where are you exactly? If you want to protect your new wheels/tires and if it's somewhere that might get some snow before you leave I'd wait. Also it depends on how much tread is left on your old tires.

Put 'em on and run with it, Wheels are pretty tough, a good wax coat and sane driving habits go a long way. Hitting a road hazard or curb during any season would be more of a concern to me than driving nice wheels in bad weather. If your new wheels are a bit wider or you're running stretched tires just be extra careful w/ curbs. Never hurts to pull a bit wide next to a curb and check your mirrrors down to see the curb unitl you're really used to the true "edge" of your cars' track. Only takes one good crunch against a curb to really jack your new wheel(s).

I've seen chrome wheels get destroyed pretty quickly after exposure to road salt. Maybe they were cheaply chrome plated or something, but they definitely got destroyed by the salt.

If you like to keep your car a long time, it's a good idea to limit salt exposure. Not just the wheels, but the whole car. My G37 will never even see a salty road. It will stay tucked away inside a heated garage during the winter. I have a 4wd SUV that I drive in the NY winters. It's practically unstoppable in the snow and much safer!

From: Framingham Ma,
IMO Wait for spring, only a few months and no worries about scrapping them on ice or slidding and hitting a curb..

I feel like we wont get snow here until December anyway. if i put a good coat of wax on and drive one month in the snow what could it really do to the rims and tires? You know u get new wheels u want to put them right on haha.

if you get salt and dirt on the roads like i do, expect it to just stick onto the rims, id just be patient and wax them while they sit in your garage.
