Chrome Rims

I just picked up my used '09 G37 the other day. It came shinney chrome OEM rims instead of the brush aluminum. As I look around, I don't see many chrome rims, whats the history of that. Or are they fakes?

Thx

Personally I think chrome looks good on that color. I had the same color with a custom chrome wheels and loved it. However you will soon find out most people on this forum would disagree and do not like chrome at all. I do find that chrome on the other hand doesn't look so well on other colors.

It looks like they dipped the OEM wheels.

That's the 2010 SPECIAL edition man! That's really RARE, only ONE in a thousand comes with chrome OEM wheels!

JK JK Actually the first time i've seen on a G too... Did you buy secondhand or from a dealer? Looks funny

The deal is that most people here who mod their G's think the chrome wheels look cheesy. That the G37 isn't a car for chrome wheels. But if you like it, more power to you. Yours could be OEM wheels that have been chromed plated.

Congrats on your new car and welcome to the forum.

Looks nice, actually. I would lower, and get darker chrome.

The previous owner may have bought the wheels on one of the sites that sell replica wheels in chrome or original color.

I know of certain dealers near my area which offer chrome rims. Yes, they are OEM wheels, but simply dipped in chrome. My nearest dealer charges $1700 to swap OEM aluminium wheels with the chrome ones.

I would love to have that option, unfortunately there isn't a sidewalk in this town that my wife has managed to avoid hitting with the rims. She's getting real good now, as soon as she hears the crrrrunch noise she stops moving

They're likely OEM that have aftermarket Chrome... If done well your better off
As Betty indicated, most folks don't like chrome wheels for this car, I happen
to like it, but think it really looks good on your color... Don't scrape em!!

And then she innocently asks me if I think we should buy those beautiful after-market rims Infiniti has on display in their parts dept.
I felt like answering: " Sure honey...As soon as we relocate to Inuvik (they have wooden sidewalks there)" but reason prevailed and I just pretended to ponder the question
