Question Why different size tires

I'm a newbie only had my G for two months, was curious why does the G37_ Sedan with Pre.& Sprts pkg have different size tires in front and back? Is this supposed to make it handle better? Was wondering if it would be OK to put four of the same size tires on it or would that upset the balance or handling of the vehicle? Not trying to sound ignorant just hoping some of you G vet's would be able to explain and or answer these for me.

having the staggered setup (diff width tires) does improve handling.

Running your car with 4 of the same width tires wont kill your handling...it MIGHT upset the VDC, but nothing to worry about.

however it has been said that running a staggered setup on an AWD car might screw things up in terms of the AWD system and VDC....but some will claim they havent had any issues.
