FYI: oem tpms do not need reprogramming

This might be a pointless post but just letting people know that if you use your OEM tpms sensors(the same ones that came on your car) on your summer wheels, they will get picked up by the car.

-I had my tire rotated on my stock wheels and the sensors were picked up
-now the oem tpms are in my summer wheels and they were picked up within a couple minutes

..does not seem to matter if you switch around the location of the sensors. only time you need to reprogram them is if you get aftermarket sensors or possibly another set of OEM sensors.

yes correct, but some people just get another set of TPMS which will require to have it done and reprogrammed.

so, if i'm reading this right, if i replace my tires with new ones and use the OEM TPMS sensors, they will not need to be reporgrammed? Do tire installers usually charge anything extra for transfering the sensors? I'm just trying to figure out how much it going to replace my tires.

You read right! If you're just swapping your tpms to different wheels you don't need reprogramming. I even ran my car without tpms for awhile and put it back in my system picks it back up without reprogramming.

Yes, the installer usually charges you for swapping tpms.

Sensors are tied to the car. As long as they are not replaced with DIFFERENT sensors, they do not need to be reprogrammed.
