Stock rims or aftermarket??

Stock rims or aftermarket??

Are aftermarket wheels just as good as stock infiniti wheels? If so what are good brands with reasonable cost ~200/ea? I want to change my stock 17 in wheels due to their size and because of the RSA's.

The G37 rims are made by Enkei. What size rim are you looking for? Have you priced anything at tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com?

I would like to go 19in but the cost of tires and premature wear may be a hinderance. I may just go to 18 in and get a WAY better tire than the Eagle RSA's Thanks

200 each? I hope you are kidding, tires cost more than that.

If that is all you are willing to spend, your best bet is to find some OEM coupe sport 19s.

The OEM wheels are if pretty good quality. To purchase larger aftermarket wheels of equal or better quality will very likeley cost significantly more than $200 each. You can find wheels for that price, but they won't be quality wheels from a reputable manufacturer, they'll be poorly made knockoffs of quality wheels.

As far as tires, going up to 18" or 19" tires won't cause premature wear if you choose tge right size and have your car properly aligned. However they are mire expensive than 17".

You can't even find OEM S coupe wheels for $200 each... try more like $500 each.

OP, I'd suggest you save your money for a bit more until you can get a better quality wheel (aka spend more $$$!)

I have seen 19s go for about 1k before. So that would be about 150 a rim, plus 100 per tire.

Best bet is to check the marketplace here and try to find some used quality rims you like or OEM 19s.

Thanks for all of the input I figured I would have to spend 1500 total with tires, sensors, shipping etc so I just was throwing out a figure. I guess I should plan on spending more like 2000 or 2500 for what I'm looking for with everything included.

Just so you know what you are looking at

TPMS (used) - 200
Tires (new) - 800-1000
Shipping rims - 200
Shipping tires - 150
Lug nuts - 100
Mounting/Balancing- 100
Alignment - 150

You will easily spend more than your 1500 budget, NOT COUNTING THE RIMS. Some dealers charge liek 150 to reset the TPMS sensors as well.

Your only real option is to buy a OEM 19 sport rims with tires/tpms and everything. You can usually find a good set with good tires for 1200. Add another 200 for shipping, you are in your desired window.

IMHO go OEM if you're OK with the look. Buy aftermarket if you
need a different look or something you can't get in OEM like a unique offset, width, or diameter.

With OEM You get a more consistent product that been tested to OEM standards. This not only means strength and durability but also finish quality. You'll also be able to replace the wheel should you have an issue down the road. Many aftermarket wheels go out of production and a few years down the road it's hard to find a replacement.

I also think it's easier to sell a used car when it has OEM rims on it because the next buyer doesn't get the impression that the car has been midified or driven hard.

If you go aftermarket I think you should plan to spend $300+ (more typically $400+) for a wheel of similar quality (BBS, Enkei, Volk, Fikse, Foregeline, etc). Don't get sucked into thinking that you can get something for nothing..... in wheels you definitely get what you pay for.

I forgot to mention. If you get the OEM 19s, you can always have them painted or powdercoated pretty cheap. Then you will have reliable good looking wheels, that are still unique.

If you're thinking of spending $200 you're not going to be happy with the results. You get what you pay for. The stock rims on the sedan are sweet. Another thing to consider is how much the new rims will weigh.

If you want to stay in the $1500 range you initially mentioned then I'd listen to WhosUrBuddiee and get with a used set of OEM sport wheel

If however you can increase your spending budget to the $2500 you mentioned in one of your other post, then I d recommend checking the forum Classified section. You will find that there are several sets of quality wheels (19s and 20s) going for that price. Gd luck with your search.

Guys!! He has G37x.. You don't want low profile setup. Your VDC and AWD system will get very mad at you.

You may want to see what OEM 37X-S wheels look like, they are 18inch and you can put some nice U-HP tires on them.

I just got these 20s w/ great Dunlop All Season Sport Signature tires for $1050 shipped to the door from Tirerack.com Everyone that's seen them in person really likes the look. The G is much better to push toward its' limits now and much more connected to the road. The road noise is not at all significant, much less than I expected for the lower profile tires. Tirerack really is topnotch and shipped the whole package out in 3 days during the Xmas rush. I haven't re-installed my TPMS sensors but may do so, the warning light staying on is no biggie to me (yet, lol). If you have a sedan these wheels have factory offsets so they fit the wells perfectly and the 245/35/20 tires are exactly the same diameter as those crap RS-As so you won't notice any speedo errors and won't effect the traction control systems. The wheels are about 1.6 lbs heavier than the stock 17" alloys and the wider tires about 3 lbs heavier. I noticed my gas mileage only dropped about 1 mpg so not bad IMO considering the sportier look and much improved road handling. Mine is a regular rwd G37 not sure if the offsets are the same for the X.
