Tires fit a range of wheel widths. Just depends on how wide the wheel is and what the tires range will fit on.

^^^ Won't that change the overall circumference of either the front or back wheels? Isn't that an issue?

Nope. It will pull in or push out the sidewalls depending on the width, but overall diameter will not change. Unless you go to Pep Boys and buy a tire stretcher

Wait – you're saying if I cram 245s in the front (when it's suppose to be 225), the circumference won't be bigger than stock? That doesn't make sense to me...

No. I took the ? as will the tire's outside diameter change if the same sized tire is mounted on a wider/narrower wheel. Example, a 225 tire on an 8" wheel vs. a 7" wheel. No the diameter won't change.

If you change the tire dimensions completely then yeah it can be taller than a 225. Depends on the aspect ratio not the wheels.

The stock 225/50-18 is 26.8" diameter no matter what wheel it's on. The correct plus zero size would be 245/45-18 which is 26.7" in diameter. Neither one of the diameters are dependant on wheel width, however. You'll also never notice one tenth of an inch in diameter change.

On the Sport the 225/45-19 is 27" the 245/40-19 rears are 26.7". Again only three tenths of an inch difference.

Hmm... ok, let me rephrase:

What I meant by that question is, how can you put four (4) 245/40/19 tires on the G's staggered rims? Or am I just not getting this...

On the Sport you have 19x8.5 wheels front and 19x9.0 wheels rear. The stock 225 front size tire will fit wheels 7.0 - 8.5" wide, the rear 245/40-19 will fit wheels 8.0 - 9.5" wide.

The 245s can fit front/rear wheels because it's built to fit on wheels 8-9.5", which both your front/rear wheels sizes are.

Yes, I know they fit... what I'm getting at is the change in circumference – how can the circumference not change? Or are you telling me the change is negligible?

It changes but by an extremely negligible amount. Only three tenths of an inch in diameter. You will never feel or see that small of a difference. Has nothing to do with the wheels.

Great, that's all I wanted to know! My mistake was I thought I HAVE to buy staggered tires for my staggered rims...

Yes, a 245/40/19 will physically fit on both 8.5x19 and 9x19 wheels. The question which hasn't been raised is whether the non-staggered tires will affect the stability and other suspension/brake management systems and how they will affect the handling and physical stability?

The engineers chose those wheel sizes and staggering for a reason. It may have been something as simple as appearance. Or, it may be tied to the vehicle electronics.

We do not show any footnotes about using the 245's all around being an issue. The minimal difference in diameter will not cause any handling issues or electronic stability problems. Will help out in cornering by planting the front end a bit better with the wider footprint. Helps reduce under steer aka plowing into corners.

Our snow packs use 225/50-18 or 225/45-19 all around which is no different in diameter than running the 245's around. Never had an issue with either scenario.
