So I've taken my car in to three different places because my rear driver side tire has this slow leak which is becoming a pretty fast leak, but each place can not seem to find leak. No air bubbles when then submerge the entire wheel in water. What is weird is when it gets really really cold, it loses a ton of air, but if its pretty warm during the day, its fine. It seems its getting worse and worse over time. From yesterday to this morning I lost about 15 psi. I drove to finalge's place and he was kind enough to let me borrow a driver side rear wheel/tire while I figure out what I need to do. Anyone have any similar experiences, or any other idea's that could be causing this? Could it just be a bad tire? the Wheel it self is not warped, and does not have any damage to it.

 

mount tire on different rim if it follows the tire it is a tire issue if it follows the rim it is a rim issue. If it is fixed woooooo hooooooooooo

 

Yeah, I think I am going to end up buying a new tire, and seeing if that fixes the issue...Right now I'm rolling on 3 20's and a stock 19. Ghetto style...LOL...

 

hey man, i did that for a few days, it's not "ghetto style" it's "ghetto fabulous"!!!

really hope it gets fixed with no cost to you. those tires are still new enough that it shouldn't really be on you to pay for anything.

 

could it possibly be losing air through the valve stem?

also, you are aware that your tire pressure will drop with large changes in temperature from hot to cold right?

 

I think Shumby's method is most cost effective at pinpointing the problem. What if you buy the tire and it's actually the rim that's the problem?

 

The 3 places I took the car too, said they didn't see any air loss from the valve stem. I know there is 1psi changer per 10 degree's. But losing 15psi over night???

that is a pretty big drop. i know ive seen 8-10psi losses before though. what are your pressure losses WITHOUT a temperature change?

 

This morning when I filled up the tire with air, till I got to finagle's house, I was losing about 1 psi per hour. I lost about 3-4psi...

 

ya thats pretty bad. seems pinpointing the leak isnt possible so guess you're going to just have to switch stuff around and figure it out. best of luck.

I know when Finagle and I inspected the tire, we saw...a crack in the tread, that went all the way down to the wear marker...I'm not sure if it was always there, or if it just got worse, and the tire places just didnt think it was an issue...

 

1 more quick thought - what pressure did they test the tires under? i hope they were smart enough to fill it to 40-45psi to try and find the leak.

 

1 place tested it at 50, the other two at 40psi...

 

ok figured at least 1 of them would get it right but it was worth a try lol.
