Wheel Repair

I wanted to give a plug to Mike at Velvet Touch wheel repair in Anaheim. I had some pretty deep curb rash and Mike fixed the wheel to a like new condition. I wanted to pass on his recommendation for cleaning. First, the 19 inch Sport wheels are painted (over a black wheel). He recommended no commercial wheel cleaners as they will eventually remove the finish. Soap and water alone will help preserve the finish. If you need something a bit stronger, then a dilute solution of simple green will work. He also recommended car wax be applied to the wheels to help reduce the accumulation of brake dust.

Did he have to repaint part of your rims? Was the color match perfect?

Okay, totally really picky, **** question. Will a cleaner/wax, like Meguiar's, also strip the finish? I am thinking it might help remove brake dust as well as waxing the finish.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe its the holidays? Their shop is actually located within Mercedes-Benz of Anaheim service department at 5395 East La Palma Avenue. I just drove into the service department and told them I was there for wheel repair and they sent Mike out. Cost was $125 a wheel. Don't know about the Meguiar's cleaner.

How much did that cost? I let my friend drive my car and now I have something similar. He is either getting it fixed or buying me a new wheel.
