** FIRST REVIEW ** ARK GRIP Prototype Exhaust for v36 sedan
Alright guys,
First I apologize because it took so long for me to put something together for you guys on my prototype ARK Grip exhaust. I've had the exhaust on my car for about 4 weeks now but I've been so busy with work and other things. I sure you guys will understand. Ark is already taking pre-orders on this exhaust through authorized vendors such as Amplified Motorsports. I believe the ETA on the pre-order buys were to be end of June or early July. Anyway if you are interested, please contact Lou @ amplified or contact Alex @ ark performance.
Ok then, now on to my review.
My initial thoughts:
Everything else I loved! I really dig the dual chamber set up on the sedan. Props to Ark for being original and being the first to produce the dual chamber set up for the sedans.
My follow up review:
After putting on few hundred miles, the tone of the exhaust has really been refined since the initial install. Before the break in, I was really bothered by the in-cabin droning at cruising speeds on local streets. At freeway speeds, the droning was very minimal but local streets, my ears were falling off.
Fortunately after the break in period, the whole tone of the exhaust have changed in a good way. It is much more refined and clean without the whole overwhelming aftermarket exhaust tone. The droning slowly faded away and there is absolutely 0 rasp even at WOT.
As far as power gains, I have not dyno-ed my car yet which I plan on doing after my HFC install and a tune. So I cannot really comment on the actual gains over OEM. However, I can tell you guys that it feels to pull a little harder at the top end which is expected from an aftermarket exhaust. Nonetheless, I do feel a slight loss in low end power which is normal for any aftermarket exhaust. I am currently running a Stillen gen 3 intake and will be also be installing my Berk HFC soon to go along with this exhaust. From what I've heard, the HFC should be able to compensate for the slight loss of power in the low end.
Anyway, here are some recent pics and a video clip for you guys to check out.
If you guys have any questions regarding this Ark Exhaust, feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer to my abilities & help the guys who is still searching to add the perfect aftermarket exhaust for their G.
Thanks!
-Jason

Any updates, Jason? Have you installed HFC's yet? If so, how does it sounds all together?
Also, do you know if they offer the mufflers without the titanium tips? I'm definitely not a fan of the "burnt" look.

What's up, Adrian. It's been a while man.
Anyway, I ended up selling my HFC w/o installing it for now. I've had my Ark Grip CBE for a while and I am very happy with the way it sounds. It has added a more aggressive, sporty tone to my exhaust compared to the tame OEM set up. Also, I didn't want too many breather mods w/o getting a proper tune to fix the A/F ratio. I thought my car might run too lean with the combination of CAI, CBE, and HFC without a proper tune. However, I do plan on getting a custom tune for my car in the near future and most likely end up installing a HFC or a testpipe when I do.

Adrian, you should update us with some new pics of your car when you get a chance. Just curious what you got going on.
Yeah, I definitely need to post some updates. It's been at GTM for a few weeks, but when I get it back I plan to do a new thread on everything that's new this year. There are a few pics of it in progress at GTM here:
GTM Supercharger Kit - Page 10 - G35Driver
And here's the last thread I've posted with pics:
Tuesday Afternoon "Photoshoot" - White Akebono's / AutoKits CF Diffuser - G35Driver
But, this thread is from earlier this year and there's lots that's new since then.
