Yeah, a lot of the 335's are having oil cooling issues. It's surprising how BMW overlooked (or underlooked) this problem. They are now being retrofitted with new coolers now.
They are both very nice cars, for me the deciding factor is pricing. You get more bang for your $$$ with the G.

The 335's here are going for over 50K. The "weaker" 328i is 42K. G37's are around 39-42K (around 46K FULLY LOADED)
Now choose between the 230hp bland 328i and the 330hp and newer G37. That's a no brainer.
German Engineering, regardless of any other considerations. Studies have clearly shown that it's better than kittens, ice cream, and a sprinkler on a hot summer day . . . combined. If Jesus was alive he would drive a BMW.
James Bond goes limp? ... I don't think so. He may like BMW but he would not drive a 335, at least without an oil cooler. The oil cooler cost cutting measure in such a performance car is not a small omission for some people. At least they should have offered it as an "upgrade" ... although myself I'd laugh if they didn't give it free. I'm glad they are finally adressing it.
Sure limp mode allows the car to cool off rather than blow up, but if overheating can be avoided to begin with, that is the better way. Not only does the fun ballon pop if it limps during your track session (see vid), but even people who don't track put the extra money into a performance car just to have it if they ever need it. Say to save their lives, for example, you made a wrong turn and found yourself in a bad area, if a gang knew your car would eventually overheat, all they have to do is push you a bit before you become a sitting duck.

If there is ever a time to use that power, that would be it.
Oh, if you ever find yourself in that situation, read this for tips:

The convenient G37 keyless entry is also a safety feature, plus the 330hp helps you do a 007 getaway to a safer area.

video is been going around for a while. but the overheating issue is no longer an issue. both great cars. i've driven both, and i would still get the 335i. if i was on a tighter budget, i would get the g37. the interior has vastly improved on the g though.
