ITB08-023A Muffler rattle

Why is there an "A" at the end of the TSB# on my invoice?
Also, the part number is 20100-JL01C
I'm guessing this new muffler they put on my G is different from 20100-JL01B

Do mufflers need time to break in? Because IT'S SO QUIET! At 3K-4K RPM sounds like 2K back then with the old muffler....

Anyone else thinking the same?

Yep same here, I got the same part replaced for my muffle rattle issue. And yes it does sound a lil quite compares to the old one but I had it on for less than a week, lets see if it changes.

My only seems to rattle for the first minute or so. Sounds like crap for a minute but seems like it's being wasteful to replace it just because of that.

I too just had my muffler replaced because of the rattle and it is indeed quietier. It also seems to me that the inlets hang down lower and I now have less ground clearance.

Anyone else see the same clearance issue?

It shouldn't hang down lower, bring it back.

I took it back to the dealer that installed it, but they claim it is the new muffler and that is the way it is supposed to be. I can't imagine that is true as it is noticably lower and now scrapes at time entering driveways. Guess I'll have to visit another dealer and have them check it.

By rattling do yo mean the old diesel sound the car makes on cold startup that last for about a minute?

Can this Bulletin still be claimed and does Infiniti pay for the replacement.

Hi everyone,

I know this is an old post but I'm experiencing the same issue on my 2008 G37 Coupe. The rattling only happens in the morning and seems to go away when you take the vehicle out of Park! I purchased the car used about 4 months ago.

I have two questions relating to this bulletin:

1. Does Infiniti still cover this Bulletin for the rattling muffler issue?
2. Does infiniti cover the entire cost (parts and labour) on this?

Thanking all in advance for your help with this.

RG
