New M owner

If you couldn't tell by all the recent posts, I'm new to the forum. Just thought I would post some pics now that I'm mostly done modifying the car to what I consider is "my liking."

This is my first Infiniti. Before this, I had a 2001 Camaro SS, 2006 Supercharged Corvette, 2000 Subaru Impreza, 2006 BMW 330XI. This is my "old man car"... although it rates right up there with the corvette... even though its hard to compare the two... this M is pretty amazing. Where it lacks in power (and it really doesn't), it makes up for in comfort and style.

I wasn't sure how I would like the "blacked out" look, so all the gun metal that you see is plasti-dip. I wanted to see how it would look before I permanently changed the car's color. Now that I like it, I'll move towards a more permanent solution.

Nice, congrats on the purchase and welcome to the site. It looks good, you just need to drop it now to get rid of all that wheel gap and you should be ok.

Yeah... no kidding.... any chance you can lower the car on stock springs? You can do that on the vette

I'm assuming I'd have to buy new springs, huh?

Don't think there is a drop option on the "X" models.

Keep us posted if you pull the trigger for the drop ... would love to see pic's, hear about the install and the ride afterwards. I really don't want to ruin the ride on my M ....

Welcome.

Having a few Fbodies, and my current demo being a M35H, I can gladly say, I dont mind my current ride!

How the drop would affect my ride comfort is my biggest concern. I drive about 32K miles a year... so I'm in my car quite a bit. I love the way it rides now, but would love to bring down that wheel gap just a bit as well.

You can get either Eibach springs to lower (which I have on my M37X) or you can get BC coilovers for the AWD now.

No problem. I like the gunmetal on the grill. I have the 20" gunmetal sport wheels and that looks like it would match pretty well. You mind sharing the color code plasti drip you used?

The plastidip color is Anthrecite grey. Its under their "true metallic" lineup. The Plastidip was only meant to be a temporary solution to see what it would look like with gunmetal wheels. I would like to eventually get my hands on a pair of those 20" gunmetal wheels. Let me know if you ever want to get rid of them.
