It's a horribly sad state of mind when a car with 306 HP is considered slow.

I was thinking about getting a M35, but seeing how slow this car is (0-60mph around 7.0sec), I decided to pass on it. M45 is out of my budget.

Infiniti really need to put the 3.7L engine (330 hp from what I heard) and make a 5.0L that puts out over 400 hp.

What? The I-6 5-series still have less output than the M35; only the 550i has more power. The GS350 has 306 HP, GS430 has 290. The E350 has 268 HP and the E550 has 382 HP. Compared to its current on-the-market competitors, the M is hardly "considerably weak."

Seems rather pointless to compare the current M to future competitors when Nissan/Infiniti is notoriously silent about future designs.

I was just about to post what you wrote GJBenn. I'm not sure what research you have dont craft, but your wrong. Keep in mind some of the numbers Benn pointed out reflect the HP from M45 competitors which is about 5-10k more than the M35, so please tell me which competitors in the M35 class have 400 HP? By the time the M35 is pushing 400hp, a M45 will probably be pushing 6-700hp and 400hp will be slow.

Also, your comparing a M35 sedan against a Supra sports coupe(which has not even been given a green light to go into production as far as I know), and you dont see anything wrong with that?

Again, point me out a few vehicles currently existing or coming out in the M35/M45 class, price and market that are pushing 400hp. An M5 and the E63 AMG both run over 80K. By that logic why stop at a M5, E63 or a Supra. A Porsche Carrera GT pushes over 600hp. I guess that means Infiniti better step it up on the M35.

I'm sure everyone would like to see Infiniti vehicles dominating the hp game, but its going to be within the parameters of their competitors vehicles.

306 terrible?

Someone set your bar a little too high

Since when is 306 "terribly slow"?

1) HP does not really calculate the performance of the car. Ofcourse its important, but you have to calculate the 2nd most important factor: Weight

2) If 306 HP is "terribly slow", then I assume you might think the C6 Z06 is average.

.

What cars are these? How much more do they cost?

I know the topic is on the M35 but Nissan has done a great job with the new G35 sedan. Fits in nicely with the 335i and IS350 in terms of luxury, performance and costs less. Without the previous gen G35 raising the bar, the 335i wouldn't be what it is today and I bet it would cost more without the competition.

So true. What would a Toyota Yaris be considered if the G is terribly slow....LOL
